Greetings and salutations.
Early this morning it started to rain and luckily it stopped by the time I had to go to work. The road was still wet and noticed that my tires are the worst tires ever, I'm sure they would probably last a million miles but they just don't grip the road at all when wet.
I live in the San Diego area and am not expecting a lot of rain but I really think I should consider better tires.
Anyone have any suggestions on a better tire?

pirelli tires have the best wet surface adhesion going. Most chinese and dunlop are the worst you can get, hard as a rock, rough riding and slide out easy. Avon, bridgestone, michelen, metzler, and a host of name brands are ok too. Stay away from no names. Its your life riding on them.

A little science here before everyone starts with "Use Expensive, soft Tires". I see you're in San Diego, where rain is an infrequent event. Cars leak. Anti-freeze, oil, transmission fluid and other stuff. In the rest of the world rain floats the oils off and into the gutter frequently, but still contributes to slipperiness. In San Diego it accumulates in vast amount and when it floats off your streets become ice skating rinks. The stickiest tire in the world won't save you. If it was me I would either not ride in rain or, if forced, understand I'm riding on ice and live with what I have and just be cautious.

Agreed, you have to figure that the contact patch between both tires with a passenger on the scoot is like 1 - 1 1/2" of the tire. ....then you have to figure there's about 200-250 lbs roughly on each tire.

Hah, I bought a Bridgestone tire for the back of my Fashion because all the Helix owners use it. Only because I don't feel like changing rubber every 3,000 miles. Of course when I do the front tire I'll go cheap. Why spend alot of money when a front tire lasts 10,000 miles. If Cheng Shin was still in the bike tire business I'd use those.
