i really don't care what people say about riding a scooter, it's my passion,once a rider will forever be a rider. i read on one of the motorcycle forums that Scooters are like having sex with a real heavy woman,fun to ride,but you just don't want to be caught riding one.
i will ride as long as my health permits.

Ha Ha!!! Scooter riders are funnny!! Hey! like to ride? Ride!! It's good to see that most folks on here don't take much offense at those jokes. Sometimes they are funny. Sometimes they are just meant to be mean and they are still funny. Ride, have fun, and enjoy. Only difference between a Big arse motorcycle and a scooter is that you don't have to change your personality when you buy the scooter. Or, as I say, (and maybe i read it somewhere), is "don't blame the bike, the guy was an asshole before he bought the motorcycle"

i dunno why here in the U.S. if you ride a scooter people think that your'e gay, dork, old,sissy,girly,soft,feminine,un-circumcised etc,etc...whereas in Asia, if you ride a scooter it means that you are practical,sensible,wise,hobbyist, totally nothing to do with gender.

Asians ride Scooters cause they are more affordable and gas is extremely expensive
In America, BIKES are a luxury
In Asia. Scooters may be their only means of transportation for the family

I didn't read Dave's comments as having anything to do with wealthly vrs poor. Just stating facts. In fact, there are some very wealthy Asia people and some very poor Americans.

I don't think he meant to rub anything in, just that scooters have been the mainstream transportation in Asia. Population has a lot to do with that also.

I hate to spoil the party but I don't know what you guys are looking at. Everytime I watch a video from any part of Asia I seem some scooters but a zillion Honda Cubs and clones of Cubs. What did Honda sales of Cubs just pass? About 10 million??

Now I don't want you to think I'm denigrating scooters to second class status, far from it.

By the evidence it would actually appear that any old schlub can own a motorcycle. Afterall, all they want is low maintenance costs, speed and the ability to carry heavy loads. How low rent.

Scooters on the other hand are owned by people with a great deal of time and money to lavish on the care of their machines. Motorcycles don't have rubber drive belts that require frequent replacement. Motorcycles don't have variators that need servicing and roller replacements to keep them going. They just have filthy chains or belts that need little attention and last a long time. Those poor owners haven't got the funds to keep replacing parts, the poor wretches.

Look at the BEST SCOOTER ON THIS SITE. The Yamaha Morphous. It requires clutch and variator service every couple of months. If a dealer had to do it the cost alone would be more than those poverty stricken motorcycle owners could bear. It needs a trailer and car sucking gas to travel a few hundred miles. Do you think that a slimy motorcycle owner could afford that? No way, they'd have to ride.

Yes, Rejoice. Every time you see someone insult your scooter it's because they're jealous. They aren't among the elite, like us, who have the time and money to enjoy our scooters. They just push the start button and ride. Who wants that?
