Hey guys.... getting to the point where I may work on getting the scooter running again. I let it sit too long with gas and rusted out the tank so I'm just starting over with the whole fuel system pretty much. I ordered a new tank and carb. Im going to replace the fuel lines, filter and manual shut off switch too since petcocks and my scooter don't get along. My question is this... I think cleaning carb jets is a pain in the arse. Is there a place where I can buy maybe 3 to 5 spare pilot jets and main? jets? is that what the other one is called? I'd rather just replace the jets than clean then when the time comes. This is the carb I got last time and the same one I ordered again. www.ebay.com/itm/120952301660?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649I'm assuming jets are pretty universal for this size carb? (50cc carb)? Ive been looking online all over but can't seem to find a place to buy just spare jets that look like they will fit. Thanks!

you are way better off cleaning them. If you have jets that work right keep them. Good gas, not letting it sit and go bad, and a solvent in the gas once in a while is all you need to do. I use seafoam, others use some thing else. (injector cleaner)

thanks! when ive tried using carb cleaner in th past it was a nightmare. took the paint off my driveway (chems that caustic scare me) still couldn't see through the jet or feel like i was getting it clear) I do use the sea foam and won't let my scooter sit like that again

When you let them sit not only do the 2 jets got clogged but so do the passage ways leading the gas to and from the jets. A carb can be taken apart then dunked in to a pan of cleaner and soaked, then blown out with air. You may need to change jets to get the correct ones in the new carb but once you find what works you need not ever replace it unless you make changes to exhaust or air intake. If there is a marina or other place to buy real gasoline near you please consider it even if it cost a lot more than ethanol or crapahol. In almost all instances when a small engine sits with ethanol in it the tiny jets in the carb get clogged. It attracts water and then turns to gel, plugs up every thing and then gets hard and then you have serious problems.
