Recently purchased a SYM Fiddle 125 and love riding it. That being said, it simply does not have enough power for a rider my size (close to 250 lbs) and am looking to tweak it to get the most I can from it. From what I can tell, the engine is a 152 QMI/GY6
Among the mods I will be doing are a performance variator with sliders, and would love some suggestions on what weight I should use. Also will be replacing the CDI, new exhaust, rejet carb, and remove the airbox for a UNI-style filter and smooth intake pipe.
I plan on making these changes one at a time and will post pics/info to help other users with any performance gains. I would like to know if anyone has pictures and info they can share on modifying their own scooter, specifically with the removal of the airbox and adding a UNI-style filter and catch can.
Any help is appreciated.

The Fiddle is a nice bike - too bad we can't get them here in CA.. We do get the Cali Classic with the same 125cc SYM engine - Lance Powersports managed to get them CARB approved, where Carter Bros. gave up on the Fiddle. The Cali is a little lighter bike, but the handling and performance are similar. I managed to get one up to 60+ MPH on the flats, and it handle my 170 lbs on the hills just fine... but after riding my Citycom, well, I agree, a little more umph would be nice. I have tried SYM's performance CDI with no noticable effect, the performance coil did add some zip - If you do add the Uni filter, I would suggest rejetting as well, rather than one at a time.. It seems to me that SYM has got these little 125s going as good as they can...

I believe I heard the same thing, that these go as good as can be and not many mods can help it go faster. I think someone mentioned they could get faster off the line but not much more top end power no matter the mods. Maybe an upgrade to the 150cc or a 250 is your better money?

I agree. I don't think you're going to get that much improvement that you'll be happy. Think about putting the money you'd spend on the upgrade into a 250.

The Fiddle ll is a very well built, long lasting and capable bike, but it does have it's limitations - 60 mph tops, a little slower up the hills, but it does feel zippier than the Chinese 150s. The next size up is the SYM HD 200 - very powerfull 15.3 HP, liquid cooled, etc...but at about $1000 more than the Fiddle ll, you will be doubling your horepower...

As a guy that just went through a long ordeal doing the UNI and jets thing, I think you would get more bang for your buck and better results with variator weights. Not to avoid your question on what weights to get, I'd talk to some of the vendors on our site. They're very nice, helpful people. Here's a link to the vendor special section: VENDOR SPECIALSKidNme specializes in CVT and Buggy Parts NW is having a special on weights. The other folks in the vendor section will help too. Changing jets to fit a UNI is a pain, you have to keep taking the carb out to change the jet or adjust the needle. The whole time you're doing this you have to pull the plug and assess the rich or lean by inspection and by the way it runs. Also, if you go that route make SURE the UNI will fit around the engine mount, I ended up having to improvise this: If you decide to try the jets and UNI let me know and I'll try to give you a hand. It helped the power but not as much as I hoped, try the weights first. Rich
