Commissioned the new china scoot today two weeks and one day after taking the thing out of the crate. I took it out on its first run. It seems to run nicely, pretty much what I expected for a 50cc power plant. it needs some minor adjustments/tweeks here and there but nothing major. I'm an old school moped operator from long ago, it takes some getting used to with the ten inch wheels I have to admit. I'm going to have fun with it, that's all I can say for now. Scooterdepot sent me a new carb which is why I was held up getting the rig up on the road, but all seems to be ok now.

10" wheels are a little tippy at slow speeds that's for sure. 16" wheels are REALLY tippy at slow speeds. The 10" looks very cool in a retro though. I love the look of your scooter, kind of a Forbidden Planet meets Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Those little wheels are a joy to ride in town and in and out of traffic and to a quick stop, a coffee shop, grocery store etc. Big wheels and long wheel base are fine on the highways long trips etc but are really cumbersome in close quarters. I could be wrong but when vespa started out I read they got a hold of some 6 or 8" airplane tires for their first scooters.

The legend is that they used landing gear tail wheels which were the only thing in abundance from Italy's decimated aircraft industry after the War.

The legend is that they used landing gear tail wheels which were the only thing in abundance from Italy's decimated aircraft industry after the War. That would explain the single sided fork and interchangeable wheels
