I would like to replace all my bulbs with LEDs. How do I decide which LED bulb I should be using for each of mine? My headlights for example. Where do I get headlight LEDs to replace my current ones?

LED HEADLIGHTS are Illegal. Huh? That makes no sense at all.

Here in the U.S.A it is Illegal to have LEDS for your HEADLIGHTS. Maybe in your country they are not but I have yet to find ANY HEADLIGHT LEDS for a Scoot. Alleyoop

I installed HID's...H4...9003...Hi/Lo with relay...35 Watt....5000k...Bi-Xenon almost 3 yrs ago and Love them. Not a hard install and they are not expensive. Ebay has a ton of them and good prices. I paid $60.00 for my set and that is not high. Led's on the stop and turn.

In Kansas small scoots are classified not as motor vehicles but as 'motorized bicycles'. They allow 3.5hp, 130cc, and 30mph max except in a low power cycle (downhill). A motorized bicycle is classified as a bicycle and as such is covered by the lighting rules for same. That means a white light to the front visible at 500', rear red reflector, etc etc. Nothing about DOT approval. If your scoot is classified as a motorized bicycle or some such similar term it MAY fall into bike light territory. Your local regulations must be consulted.
Larger faster scoots, motorcycles, and motor vehicles must have DOT approved headlight assemblies with the proper light pattern for the USA. Headlights that meet European standards are not allowed. Just because a bulb is DOT approved does not mean the headlight assembly is DOT approved. Also a DOT approved assembly fails muster if a non DOT or non-application specific lamp is used. It is the entire assembly that must meet DOT standards. IIRC there are some new LED assemblies in the works but no DOT approved LED headlight replacement bulbs. At one time some states outlawed LED lights of any type entirely.
On my small 'motorized bicycle' scoot I have LED lights everywhere except the turn signals and indicator bulbs. The original bulbs were terrible and unavailable. DOT approved lamps must be easily obtainable. That seems to be part of the approval process. I hope to have pictures of my scoot someday. It will be interesting to be pulled over. All a person can do is accept the ticket, right or wrong.
On the other hand, I see a LOT of motorcycles that obviously do NOT have DOT approved lights. Many do not have approved mufflers either.
YMMV...

bhinch, Could you post pix or at least a description of how you made the conversion? I'd love to use LED's, but almost anything is better than what it came with.
Frankie, Anything over 49cc or 30mph in Hawaii is considered a motorcycle and treated as such,

WOW!! those are cheap just about what a complete scoot costs. Everyone that does put something brighter on they put on HID bulbs NOT LEDs. I did not see JUST LED BULBS for HEADLIGHTS. Alleyoop

On one of the other forums there is a tutorial of HID install with pics and that is what I used. It is in the electrical section. Maybe this is ok.... the scooter professor has the info you need. Don't shoot me...ok...

So, are your front lights enough to light up the road in front of you with that bulb? (Looks like a nice one by the way)
Hawaii law actually states anything ABOVE 49cc is a motorcycle. So all of them are labeled 49cc or even 46. They tell you it's a 50, but when you look, the engine is actually a 46 or 49.

I found a set of 6000k Hi/Low beam Xenon HID lights. The conversion kit comes with ballasts, 2 bulbs and mounts, and all the necessary hardware to replace both my headlights.
I'd never heard of HID's before but I've seen them on cars. Now I'll have it on my bike. I have a feeling I'm going to do a lot more night riding.
