Hello. Quick question. I just bought this new battery. However I am used to the kind where I add the fluid myself and let it crap for an allotted amount of time until it is " self charged " up and ready to go. With this one is it just plug and play? Do I need to put it on the charger at all? Once I put it in, how long should I drive the scooter for to get it ready? I just don't want to make sure I kill anymore batteries stupidly. Thanks! (this is the one I got www.ebay.com/itm/360651867077?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 )

If you have a trickle charger I don't think it would hurt to put it on it for a few hours. My Sears battery maintainer has an indicator light that turns green when it's "full". I leave it on all winter on the Fashion.

I don't have a trickle charger , just a regular charger. It has a light that lets me know when its full also. Just dont know if its too soon to be messing with a charger ( if it can hurt a new battery ) that prob sounds stupid but im clueless when it comes to batteries for scoots lol Im in Miami so putting the scooter away for the winter is not an option

Sorry this took so long. If you put in the new battery and the scooter starts, you're golden. If not a few amps from your charger is a good idea.

Hello. So I bought this new battery .... www.ebay.com/itm/360651867077?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649and decided to wait until Dec 31st to install it ( new year, new battery and it will be easier to remember the exact date I last installed a new battery ) so anyway I just kept charging the old battery up for a couple of hours each morning for the past week. It would give it enough juice to start twice before it wouldn't again which was fine since I was only driving it to and from work and that's it. well today I charged it full. it took about 3 hrs and wouldn't start at all. either nothing, a click or " 1/8 of a rev " (barely anything) but definitely no turning over. So i decided to put the new battery in today. I installed it, turned on the gas ( remember i have the manual fuel shut off switch ) and NOTHING. I tried twice and same thing, just click, nothing of 1/8 or a rev. this battery is supposed to be plug in play, no charging needed. what if someone bought this and didn't have a charger? Luckily I have a charger and put it on and left home thinking in 2 hrs when I got back it would definitely be charged since my old battery which was on its last leg would charge in 2 hrs. well its 3 hrs later and the green " charge complete " light still has not come on. Im thinking either the battery needs a charge OR I need to change the spark plug. So I have decided to do both. I should probably put in a new spark plug anyway since the other one was just sitting in it for a year, I have spare ones, its not hard to change and in the past with my first scooter when I had starting issues, even if it had nothing to do with the spark plug, the changing of the spark plug still helped things start better at least at first and for a little while. If i charge the new battery full AND replace the spark plug before trying to start it, i wont know if the battery actually just needed to be charged after all or if it was the spark plug so.... do you think i should try to start it after new battery is fully charged and see how it goes OR toss in the new spark before even trying to start it? my concern is, if its the spark, i will start to wear down the new battery trying the few times to start it (if it doesn't spark) so tell me what you think about my over analyzed thoughts and ideas. .. charge new battery and try to start it? or charge the new battery, change spark and try to start it? What would you do? *** edit ( 4 hrs later still charging ) did I purchase a dead battery?! ***

If its a trickle charger it may take about 10hrs to fully charge the battery. If you have a multi meter put it on the battery terminals and see what the reading is. It takes at Least 12v to turn the starter anything under in the 11s it will not do squat. Now if your charger has a booster set it on boost and then try to start it. Alleyoop
Batteries are a shot in the dark, you do not know how long they have been sitting on the shelf. And they do not put them on charge before they mail them out to you. They come from the factory about 80% charged but then time left on the shelf depletes them .

I have a regular charger, not a trickle and it doesn't have a booster. I was just surprised since the info on the battery when I bought it ( in the ebay ad ) said its ready to go ( no charge needed ) Oh well... still charging Thanks Alley

Yep that is a BATTERY MAINTAINER just like the Junior battery tenders. They will maintain the charge on a battery provided it has some descent charge on it already. What they do is if the charge drops to around 75-80 percent it will bring it back up. But It will not bring back a depleted battery. So hopefully leaving it on overnight tomorrow it may have done something.
If you have a friend with a car and jumpers hook it up for about 15 minutes or so. The car can be running provided the battery is not hooked up to the scooter, It may bring it back to life.
Do you have a MULTI METER test the battery and see what it reads. Alleyoop

Oh geeze. hope its done charging soon. I can't leave it on over night I have my front door cracked to allow for the cord going to the outlet inside.
dont have a multi meter.
dont have a friend with jumper cables. last night my neighbor needed a jump and my friend realized his jumper cables were broken. We did a great job scraping the battery corrosion off his terminals too.. even got a tiny bit in my eye. that was fun. flushed it every 10 min for about 3 hrs , by 4 hrs i was all better. LOL. goggles next time.
either way i hope this works, i just bought this battery. if not im going for spark plug next. and plan C is CRY lol!

Spark plug is not going to help you if it will not turn the motor over. I mean you could put a new spark plug in but that will do nothing for cranking the motor over. Alleyoop P.S You have to make friends with someone that has a car ;D

good to know. thanks! heh, a lot of people/friends don't have cars down here. the roads are so dangerous with not needing to speak english to drive here and people not stoping for red lights, stop signs, no use of turn signals. I keep my scooter on the side/quiet roads. Also car insurace is 4x as much as I was paying in NY with the same exact coverage. Hopefully when the charge is full I can be off and running again.. you know.. 20mph LOL
