I had my scooter up on the stand you can tell the back wheel is way out of balance....there are four weights glued on to the inside of the rim to balance it but thats clearly not working... If i remember when you are putting that many weights on a rim there is a problem with it??? My feeling is a need a new wheel?? i'm sick if hearing about the vibration my wife feels at a higher speed....i thought she would enjoy the ribration....lol i have a baccio speedy 50cc with 12" wheels

It is probably not the wheel. If it is a used scooter when tires are changed some one may have not removed old weights. If new the tire is probably the cause. What I would do is remove the wheel and check the balance, then remove the weights. A quality tire should need almost no weights. Chinese tires are bad news. That is one area that they need to improve. I would also take the tire off and check the balance of the wheel and you will probably find it is good. I use pirelli tires and have never had to put weights on them, in the past 3-4 years I have installed them on 3 scooters and replaced 4 tires that were worn out or damaged and no weights. Dunlop tires are bad news too as they are rock hard and no road grip. Bridgstone, metzler, avon, michlen, and most of the old school name brands are fine, but beware of the no name garbage that is a few bucks cheaper than a good tire.

Now if.........the previous owner put a bad or needing balancing new tire on him self with out removing old weights and the heavy sides lined up you have a really bad out of balance situation. If the tire weights look old that would pretty much prove that since a new tire would have new weights if it was out of balance.
edit: the painted dot on side of tire should be lined up with the valve stem, if it is not the installer did not know how to install a tire. Also some tread patterns are direction dependent...will have an arrow denoting the tire rotation.
take her apart, tire off rim and start checking and good luck. john

I had a pretty good shake on my front wheel. I took off the weights and put balancing beads in them. It rode smooth as silk. This was common procedure in the early days of the lesser expensive scoots.

I think I put about 4oz per tire. It was a 13 inch rim. It worked fantastic. It is the same system they use for the big rigs where they can't balance the tires.
