Scoot is my only means of transportation. Looking for some opinions on what you guys think is the best winter gear. And where to get it. Thanks.

Doesn't say where you are, and some choices are latitude dependent. Do you have long commutes to and from work, or are most of your rides in the cold of less than 15 min? damp cold or dry cold? The best winter gear isn't really even something you wear. It's a windshield, even better if you have any kind of fairing to keep the wind off the legs. I have a larger, higher windshield for the winter months. It quite likely reduces my mpg some, but is well worth it. Other than that, snowmobile pants, or a complete coverall from Big 5 sporting goods, gloves and fullface helmet with knit scarf work well for me, but we don't get much below freezing in Las Vegas, NV.

I use a ski bib or snow pants for the legs , then on top a few layers , covered by wind breakers . be sure the cuffs are sealed as well as the neck , keep the draft out . be sure to eat don't over stuff yourself .

I rode 365 days in a row when I was 21 or 22 in iowa. Was to prove a point or some thing like that. Looking back it was real stupid. You have no idea how many times I went down, some times in traffic. I was riding a honda step thru similar to what kz has. What i can tell you is short fat scooter tires will end up killing you on a slick street. Tall skinny knobies are a whole lot better. As far as what to wear just depends on temps but the most important thing is water proof. If you get wet when its cold enough for snow you will freeze almost instantly. I would seriously try to get other transportation such as a car. john

If this is a cold question I will tell you the one, most, vital step. Mittens. Go to a ski shop or sporting goods store. Find a pair of leather, not Gore tex, not vinyl, not nylon-LEATHER, mittens with thinsulate. You can't get sheepskin lined mittens anymore or I'd say get that. The only thing warmer is electric gloves and I'm not a fan of those. Mittens. Clumsy gloves are still better than frozen fingers.

So far I am doing fairly well with a pair of thinsulate insulated mechanic's work gloves from Harbor Freight.
