Hello. My dad got a 150cc scooter with a stripped spark plug hole, so we're replacing the head. Unfortunately I ordered the wrong cylinder head, and the valve cover won't go back on, as it has egr. Can we just buy a new valve cover, or do we have to actually get an EGR head?

No need to buy another head(by the way that is a PAIR SYSTEM. Let me ask this will that Valve cover you have in your hand fit? If so take the tubeing off the valve cover by take the two screws holding the valve and piping and take it off. Then make a metal plate to cover the hole in the head that the PAIR system attachs to. If the Valve cover does not fit then just buy a valve cover for the head. Alleyoop You can buy the plate or make one yourself.

Great, so take the piping off the valve cover and see if it fits on the head if it does your ready to go if not get a regular valve cover without the pair holder as part of the valve cover. Alleyoop

Great, I think that will work. Looks like the head will fit.
Thank you so much!

Did you ever get this fixed? You know that you can fix the old head right? If it's only a stripped spark plug hole you can use what's known as a heli coil to repair the threads. I have used them on cars and trucks ect. and never had a problem with them.

I would like to see what type heli coil you use for a spark plug hole . Can you post a link ? I can send amulet an email to up date this thread . John

They sell them at most auto parts stores. Might be better to get them online some where cause of the smaller plug size. Use just a little red loctite when you install it and let it set. Then break the tab out of the bottom of the heli coil and your done. They also make threaded inserts just for spark plugs. I'm sorry I can't copy links with this phone but you can google it John.

We've been trying to get this fixed, actually. The head went on fine, but the original valve cover DID not fit. We got a new valve cover and that did not fit, either. We sent the valve cover back and the seller was able to correctly mount the valve cover, so I'm thinking we got a bad head!

How you get the piece out after you bust it off?

How you get the piece out after you bust it off? Oh come on man, the Cyborg doesn't bother with trivial considerations like that! Hmmm, right next door to his shop is Mama Thighberg's GY6 Rebuilders. Strange, she wears a size 300 dress, don't ask how I know that.
Seriously, we had a guy on the forum that insisted he could vacuum out the metal, maybe so.
I did a BBK kit and the head I bought adapted to the PAIR valve cover I had even though the new head was non PAIR. It saved me a few bucks:

I see them on ebay and so on . The problem is you can buy a head for about the same money .
When this post was first put up , I located a head the valves were not installed . It would have needed valves seals springs keepers and spring seats , installed .

do the EGR heads do even half assed job at scavenging unburned gas and improving MPG or do they really only kill power and cut emissions.
