YO DAWG'S BAD NEW, BEAR OPERATORS!! We'll be finding out exactly what the Gear Box in the trikes consists of........... I headed out for Syracuse, NY this morning, had to maneuver around a little to get turned around so I could get out the driveway... Well, it jumped a couple of times in forward like it had in the past (but hasn't done it in a long time), then it seemed OK, got about 15 miles or so, & all of a sudden it goes RIP!!! Sounded like it took every tooth off the Gears.... Needless to say, BEAR DOESN'T GO ANYMORE!! BEAR IS BROKEN!!

Wow that Sucks. Hope it is an easy fix that does not cost a fortune and take weeks to get parts for.

Dwild62, Dude that is Nasty, sorry to hear that. Well since its going to be a Tear Down, maybe now you can find Final Gears and Gear it up if you want more speed. Now a new engine Last time I checked they want $416.00 Plus like $85.00 to ship. Alleyoop

Alley Right now I'm trying to find out $ & availability of gear box & or parts, but there's no parts list for just the gear box... Thought the gear box is part of engine, which is still under warranty until the end of September... Right now I'm just about ready to open up gear box to have a look see, but I can tell you it's not good (not pretty), when I drain the gear oil I heard bits & pieces hit the bottom of the bowl, & it's nasty thick & solid silver... Hell there may not even be anything left in there at all!!!

David Sr. Holey Smokes!!! WOW!! And I am thinking maybe it is just the Damn Gear that Slides back and Forth to engage Forward and Reverse. I was thinking maybe it has a pin or something holding on the Shaft and it sheered off. Alleyoop

David Sr., The CVT side looks like it has a CRACK in the case. WOW!! Looks like you will need a new engine. If you do get one without the Reverse Less Problematic crap back there. If it happens to mine Thats what I will do, get one without the Reverse, I never us it anyways, think I used it like 5 time and not because I needed to just to show other people. The Trike rolls very easy and is easy to move around anyways. Alleyoop

A Doc's The Reason Your ICE BEAR TRIKE JUMPS OR SHUTTERS is because of faulty case or from stress & strain dew to torque & weight.. What a depressing day.. Just got Bear reassembled, so the parts don't get lost... Everything in the transmission gear box & it's components are in good shape, all of that jumping I was getting last fall & part of the winter went away, then came back about 3 times over this last couple of weeks.. I believe there's 2 possibilities, 1) The left side engine case had a flaw in the casting of the final drive where the bearing was held in place, allowing the bearing & shaft to move, which allowed the teeth to jump, breaking out the casting, or 2) The final drive shaft was flexing dew to all the torque & weight (400 lb + 260 lb = 660 lb) & causing the gears to jump teeth & busting up the case.. I'll bet that's wolfhound's & his body's problem too!! Here the kicker thought, remember over the winter the email I said I got from Ice Bear that they basically said there was a known problem in the drive train, but nobody would say exactly what that problem was?? Well listen to this, I call Scooters Dynasty, & they said the 150cc trikes are no longer available w/ a reverse gear box because of all the problems.. NOW IS THAT SOME crap OR WHAT?? David Sr.

David if it's still under warranty they are going to replace it right? Just because they discontinued it doesn't mean they can't ignore the warranty on those out there with problems IMO. Dr. JR

Wildman, I am having simular problems with mine. Have checked with Rapid Jim, a new transmission will run you $146.00 freight inc. if I understand correctly. Factory warrenty is for 90 days only. not sure if this applies to the whole trike or not. I am questioning if I want to devote any more time or money to my 150-8. The 2010 transmission will not work on the 09 150 models, so Jim tells me. Mine has had so many other problems, some minor, some not, but the tranny has been the worst. Considering IB's warrenty, their solution for correcting an problem that they knew existed by going to a single speed -no reverse solution for the 2010 models certainly in my mind places IceBear in the lower tier of Chinese scooters. I would go with a new tranny but am afraid that the same problems would exist. To my knowledge IB did not correct the 09 trannies. If IB had spent a hundred dollars more on the 09 scoots they would have had a winner. IMHO they did not and it is not. In the meantime I am studying other approaches. Check with Rapid Jim tho. He is prompt on repies and gives honest answers.

It is true that IB has had numerous problems with the 09 150s and reverse gear. It is also true that the new 2010 models do not have reverse. Correction on the price is $135 shipped.
Now why IB decided to remove reverse instead of fixing the problem is beyond me. At least they admit there is a problem, unlike some others I could mention. All my Rep was told was that the bike is light enough not to need reverse, now that doesn't help folks with a handicap that would need it. They would have to go with a 300 to get reverse.
Now as far as the 300cc is concerned, the reverse is in the rear diff as I showed in the my PDI pictures of the Magnums we did. It has a very long throw on the control, 180 degree swing at the handlebar. It feels very solid and no jumping between reverse and forward.
I have seen nor worked on any 150s so I have to rely on what I have read on the forums and ask questions from IB.
I do have a 50cc in the shop now we ordered for a customer as I get it done I will post what I find.
