I need some help with a question. I bought a 50cc peace and uncrated it. Gased it up. and connected battery. went to start it no good. call tech support said it takes a while to get them going when they are brand new. Continued to try to start it. drained battery. and now have a dead spot in my starter. bought trickle charger re charged it. bought new spark plug. NO spark. question is this?
If it turns over it can't be the kill switch, ignition or battery. from there it goes to the CDI box? which I ordered a new one of. then to the coil, and to spark plug. DOes everyone think that the CDI box might be bad from the start. And are there other things I should be checking for? or ordering. The company I bought it from. has done Nothing! so far it took me 2 weeks to get it and has still never run . I don't want to wait for 2 more weeks for a warranty part to be shipped. Please help with any info.
thank you

First congrats on getting a new scoot. This might actually be a sign on saving you money. After uncrating your new scoot did you do a good PDI? There's a really good PDI right here: SCOOTER DOC OFFICIAL GY6 PDI[/b] I would start by checking your kill switch. Then check all of your wireing to make sure you dont have any loose connections. If you did not do a good PDI I would start by changing all your fluids also before you start it up. You will save yourself tons of future problems. Todd

If the kill switch is set to "not run" it will still turn over there is just no spark. Make sure the switch is set to the icon that doesn't have the X in it. Make sure the coil wires are on tight, the two on the back of it.

Ya, wiring is really bad on a lot of these. Check to be sure all connections have the wires firmly in them.
A bad CDI will cause the symptoms you described but so will a bunch of other things.
Damin69 has a good point on the PDI. This is VERY important to do. I know we all get excited with our new toys and can't wait to take her for a spin but the extra time on the PDI will save a ton of aggravation in the future. Also, when trying to start her, don't run the starter more than a few seconds at a time. Let it rest a few seconds between tries, You can burn these starters up quick and if it doesn't start after a few 5 second bursts on the starter, there is a problem anyways.
Do a good PDI and try again. Good luck!
