Took my little scoot for a decent ride today - about 16 miles each way and she sat for several hours between going there and coming home. Anyways, she used entire tank of gas. But she ran pretty good, didn't seem to be throttling high or anything like that. Don't think she's running rich because the sound is right and no fuel smell in the air. I'm thinking it was just old gas cause I haven't filled her since I got her, been too cold to ride.
2010 Jonway YY50QT-6 engine which from what I found online is the QMB139. So some questions: 1. Any idea where I can download a manual that will give me all my fluid capacities as well as repair info? 2. Considering replacing the plug, what specific NGK plug do I need? 3. 10W40 oil is recommended but I usually run something heavier in cars. Although most my cars are usually older than my boys (20 yrs old or more) so that is why I usually run a heavier oil. And how much does it hold? 4. I know seafoam is recommended but I have several bottles of gumout fuel system cleaner. Since she probably hasn't been cleaned out in a while, is it safe to run that instead of the seafoam through a tank of gas? 5. speedometer doesn't work but looks like it is attached properly at the wheel, if I understood other posts on here so I gotta pull the covers to check the connection to instrument cluster. 6. How do I access the lights so I can see about maybe ordering LED bulbs to replace mine? Living in the country, I'd like as much light as legally possible. 7. Most my body panels are in pretty good shape but could use new paint. Not sure about the bolt holes though because many panels are zip-tied in place so thinking the mounts for the screws may be gone. 8. What do I use when I drain the tranny and how much? 9. What weight gear oil do I need? 10. What about oil filters on these scoots? 11. Anyone know fluid capacity for a TANK 250DE for oil/tranny/gear and what spark plug it takes?
I tend to do a good tuneup on any vehicle I get if the former owner can't show me receipts proving it was done recently. With it finally getting warmer, I want to give both our scoots a tuneup. I'm guessing 2 qts of oil will do both scoots and get like an 8-12 oz bottle of gear oil?
Also, any ideas on getting a 72cc or 80cc kit to upgrade my little scoot? I know she'll still pass for legal but maybe then she can climb these hills doing more than 15 mph.

Tranny oil any 75-90 or 80-90 w gear oil will do and you fill it up until it starts to drip out of the fill hole. Oil filters you have to order them for the air filter box that is has on it. There are so many of them. Oil for the crankcase use 10W40 oil unless you live in a very hot area then 20w50. You fill it until it registers HALF way up the XXXXs on the dip stick without screwing it in, then when you screw it back in it will cover all the xxxxs on dip stick. The scoots take about 3/4 of a quart of oil. Here is a good manual for the 139QMB motor that has specs. As far as the scoots panels are concerned and getting at the light bulbs some you can access from under the seat some you have to take a few things off to get at them. www.chinesescooterreference.com/pdf/GY6Manual.pdfHere you can get parts for the motor and electrical cheap: www.scrappydogscooters.com/Replacement_Parts.htmlHere you can see all the parts and how they are hooked up and come apart: www.martinracingdealer.com/REPAIR%20MANUALS/JONWAY%20MANUALS/YY50QT-6.pdfAlleyoop

First, I can't answer all of those points tonight. I'll start though. There are really no bike specific manuals for Chinese scoots. You go by engine code on the left, lower front of the engine. Yours is a 50cc GY6 and therefore most people would use this manual.
There is a Library just a ways down the main page of the site. It is broken down into boards that address most major concerns of the at home scooter mechanic. For instance, you could find a great deal of information about your transmission under CVT which stands for Constantly Variable Transmission.
For the plug, pull it and go down to auto weinie and they will give you an NGK or equivalent. The NGK is C7HSA but I wouldn't get too locked into that. Plugs are plugs anymore IMO.
It's 10W30 in Winter, and 10W40 in summer. Use Dino...no exotics...don't over think these things...it's not a Ferrari.
Use Seafoam, not Gumout, but just a capful. SF is a hydrocarbon and thins gas out. Use too much and you lean the mixture. More is not better. Do the math off of the bottle and you'll be amazed at how little goes in a small tank.
The manual link I gave you out of our Library will answer the questions about the transmission service.

When I use a cross reference site, I end up with the same autolite part to replace both the ngk c7hsa (my scoot) & ngk cr8hsa (son's scoot). The ngk plugs are same price as autolite here @ local parts store so I'm thinking go with the ngk. My BiL has had Jap bikes for years & I know he only runs the ngk.
