All seems to be in order. Like I mentioned, it only started just after I actually started using the front brake for real. It came and went for a bit, then finally stuck around. I've been checking for wear/damage and have seen none. The sound is getting weaker and weaker as I put more miles on it. For the moment, I'm thinking it was either just a matter of the pads needing to wear down to match the discs, or maybe there was some weird piece of metal in the pad causing the issue. I'm still keeping an eye on it, but the noise seems to be improving.

Happy to hear it is not making as much noise you could definaley be right I agree it might just need to get worn to the disks. As long as it the brake isn't staying engaged. You probley don't need to worry so much about it.
Sounds good getting some miles on the scoot and liking it. Don't forget to change that oil soon when you get to that point. I think that is very critical to a new motorcycle during the beginning of it's life and break in. Keep us posted and glad to hear your not having that problem.

Thanks guys! I'm a big believer in the "hope for the best, prepare for the worst" school of thought. Like in most other matters, I approached this scooter adventure with the same state of mind. The internet led me to believe that these Chinese scoots are terrible pieces of junk. I think I've been overly cautious. Maybe that's why I've had success so far...who knows? In any case, I've been super impressed by both the build quality and how strong it runs. I've got 340 Km on it as it sits now. Gonna change the oil tomorrow morning. The only problem I've had with the thing is that the fuse that came in it crapped out on me after about 40 Km. Luckily, there was a spare included in the fuse holder. This thing is great and I couldn't be happier with it.

There's only one fuse on the bike, and as soon as I started it after that little hiccup, I went straight to Auto Zone and bought better fuses. I'm still running the spare Chinese fuse, but I have 5 high quality replacements on board.

Glad your brake situation seems to be working itself out.

I thought about switching to a blade fuse during the PDI. I just didn't see much benefit to it. The glass tube fuses are cheap and readily available.
