So, my wife officially has a job lined up for the coming school year, which means we are shortly going to jump into a higher tax bracket. ;D We just won't see a paycheck until the end of August. While she does not know this, I'm starting to look around for two new scooters: One for her and one for me. I don't know, yet, if she'll really want to ride, but I definitely want a new one for me that's freeway capable. For her, I'd like to get a retro/vintage style scoot. I'm surprised however that there are not any of the retro/vintage style scooters in a 250cc. Well, I can find them if I want to spend the money for a Vespa, Aprilia or Piaggio (which, actually all have the same motor) Is anyone aware of any chinese or taiwanese scooters that would fit this category and still be 250cc? Maybe I'll just get her a 150cc, since I don't see her commuting on it. Maybe a Q-Link Pegasus or CFMoto E-Jewel, but definitely EFI. I have bigger dreams for myself, but I still want to stick to a budget. I really like the look of the some of the chinese 250cc bikes, but my biggest question... will I fit on a Reflex or Reflex clone?? I'm 6'-2" and currently about 230lbs. I think I fit great on my Matrix II, but it has a 35" seat height. I sat on a UM XSpeed 250i and I felt cramped with my knees in the dash. Bikes I'm looking at: Aprilia SportyCity 250 Sym Citycom 300i Kymco Xciting 250 Honda Reflex (plenty on Craiglist) Yamaha Majesty (a few on Craigslist) Yamaha TMAX (if I can find one used) Suzuki Burgman 400/650 (a few on Craigslist)BMS TBX 260 www.scootersus.com/bmsTBX260.htmlLinhai Aeolus 300 Mainstreet Linhai Aeolus 400 St. Moritz (when it is finally available) I cannot make up my mind, and I really don't want to get one site-unseen because of the size issue. So, the big question.... Do you know anyone over 6ft that rides any of these bikes?

Runningslow, I believe JR fits that bill of over 6' and rides the Reflex clone. Why no used Burg's in your list? M/C

A Burgman is not out of the question (and I added it to my list). I actually sat on a used 650 at the dealer where I bought my Matrix. I was pissed off after dropping my Matrix off for service and went into the showroom. I fell in love and briefly considered the significant upgrade. I didn't take it for a ride, but I did appear to fit the seat well on that on. Financing just wasn't in the cards at the time.
I doubt those two Baron V5s will be around when the finances will allow. It'll be a few months out. I also usually only check the Orlando Craiglists, instead of the Space Coast. Not that driving to the coast is an issue, maybe only and hour or two, but I usually find more stuff in Orlando.

I don't want to sound like a party pooper or a mail order marriage councilor,..................but it would be a good idea to talk with her. Some times women get a bit pissed when left out of the loop. john

Some times women get a bit pissed when left out of the loop. john Spoken like a true husband! Been there, done that. LOL I couldn't agree with you more. Rest assured, she's not completely out of the loop. My inital statement may have been slightly misleading. We've talked about a bike for her in the past and she knows I'm planning to upgrade mine when we could. We moved this spring and she knows that the smaller scoot isn't suitable for my new commute. I can get to work, but it will take twice as long, unless I want to take a major highway (I-4) into Orlando. She's even talked about getting her motorcycle license so she can ride mine if needed. She just doesn't know that I've been window shopping the last few days. Her finally having a career (instead of a job) has been a long time coming. We've talked many times about what we want to do with the extra income. Lots of things in the house and some minor things with our cars, pay off some debt and get a good savings going, etc... On secnd thought, my truck isn't minor things, but its still running and has never left me stranded on the roadside. I've talked about my plans for the Ranger before and I know those upgrades may take some convincing, but again, she knows that I'm considering it.

The Xpeed/Ms3-250 is a little tight if you're over 5'6" but you can't beat the performance for its class. I'm thinking of putting foot pegs farther forward on mine.

Yeah, when I first visited my dealer, I sat on the Xspeed. Way too tight for a guy my size. It would be fine if the bump in the seat could move, but I don't want the hassle of getting a custom seat made just to ride the bike.

Last I heard...around 4 g's.
Supposed to be the be-all end-all.
The styling kinda sneaks up on you.

$4000.00 will get you a real nice used Burgman or Majesty 400 in my area. Another $500.00 to $1000.00 and you can go up to a 650. I think $4000 for a chinese 250 scooter is a little too much.

I was revisiting this topic in my head today, so I wanted to ask some questions.
I'm still a few months away from the possibility of new scooter (also from replacing the motor on my 170), but I'm leaning more towards a chinese 250.
-My number one concern is will I fit? (remember, I'm 6'-2" ~230lbs) I want to hear from someone who is about my size on how well they fit and if they have concerns or regrets.
-Where is a good reliable source for a 250 with the Linhai motor?
-What's the most I should spend for one new?
