Either somebody has been siphoning my gas tank when I'm not looking, or the fact that I've lost a half a tank of fuel over a 7 hour period and a strong smell of gasoline in the garage says I have a leak -_-

I think I have a bad pet cock, seeing if I take my fuel line off it POURS gas and won't stop. But it's always been like that..I've just been too broke to get a new one.

I had a bad gasket in a riva 180 petcock. Garage smelled of gas but no drip! The leak would actually evaporate before it would drip. It took a long time for a tank of gas to go away and was not easy to find. Think I found it with toilet paper. If gas gets on the tp the tp will change color somewhat.

Well my petcock isn't leaking, but it doesn't stop fuel from flowing, however. I think the case with this is that my gasket was in wrong, so the fuel was leaking from my carb, and as a result of my petcock not stopping the flow of fuel, it would just leak from the carb and the carb would constantly stay full and never stop leaking.

Wow, that's pretty cheap...When I get paid for doing my web design, I'll probably just buy that one. But as of right now it doesn't appear to be causing any problems beside the fuel infinitely leaking out and eventually just filling the carb. It's not overflowing the carb or anything like that.

It's your float valve. If it's not sealing it'll leak gas into the carb and down into the head. Pull the carb and inspect the plunger and seal, something is wrong there. The plunger has a spring action...make sure it's OK too. Rich

Like I said earlier, it was the carb gasket. The one that seals the one between the top and bottom of the carb. It was offset slightly so the bowl was leaking out the sides. Now it's not leaking out of the carb. So even though the fuel is coming endlessly from the petcock, the carb is not overflowing. Seems to be rubbing and functioning fine.

Hey Alley, Can I get your take on replacing this peacock with a standard on/off valve? Pros/Cons, opinions, experiences, etc?

Hey Alley, Can I get your take on replacing this peacock with a standard on/off valve? Pros/Cons, opinions, experiences, etc? WHY would you want a OFF/ON? If you can somehow mount it for easy access to remember to turn it ON and OR OFF but why when a PETCOCK is automatic? If you worried about vacuum line just get good vacuum lines. I have had the same hoses Vacuum fuel since 2009 that the trike came with NOT ONE SINGLE PROBLEM. Alleyoop

That's called the bowl gasket young man and the right terminology points us in the right direction. For your back talk you're grounded for one week! But I am gratified it is RUBBING and functioning fine. Do you get dates? I mean without sedating them? Just sayin'.. Rich
