I just adjusted my valves to .003 on my 50cc, at least, I think I did. I'm not exactly acquainted with how much pressure there should be on the feeler gauge, but now I have valve noise. They're louder than the engine now! Is this bad for it, and should I go back and adjust them again or should I just wait for them to quiet down? And if the valves are open too far, will there be a top end/low end torque reduction (maybe I'm imagining it..)?

They are supposed to be a little noisy. I set mine at .002. If i cant slide a .003 in then Im happy with the setting. .003 is much noisier than .002

It should slide under with very little effort , but should be light contact .

What I do is if I set them at .004, I set it with a little resistance on the .004 feeler. Then, I try to put the next size up in the gap .005, and if it won't go I'm done. Rich

Seems like I might adjust mine tomorrow and see if the clicking noise goes away.

Remember GAP-ERs, a little loose valve is a happy Valve, so a TICKY TICKY is good it tells you it is not to loose and not to tight. NO ticky ticky it is tight and will get tighter when the motor heats up. Now if they make CLATTER CLATTER sounds then they are to loose. So NO TICKY TICKY TICKY they are to tight and will get tighter. Alleypp[
