IF it is a DC CDI the power wire going into the CDI will have 12volts with the KEY on that is how you will know if the BLACK CDI is a DC CDI. If the power wire going into the CDI has no power with the KEY ON then it is an AC CDI.
I have to ask if your BLACK CDI is working why are you changing it?? Alleyoop

Yes but that is not DUE to the BLACK CDI it is firing the plug so that is not your NO START PROBLEM BRO. It is either no compression or a fuel problem plain and simple Or no GROUND FROM THE MOTOR TO THE FRAME.
I noticed you are checking for spark on the FRAME NOT GOOD. you have to check for spark ON THE MOTOR. If the MOTOR IS NOT GROUNDED good the spark plug will not fire while in the motor. So do that TEST AGAIN BUT HOLDING THE SPARK PLUG ON THE MOTOR ITSELF. IF IT SPARKS ON the motor Then do the following:
So leave your BLACK CDI on and put the plug in the motor and crank it. Now after the no start pull the plug out and see if it is WET or DRY. Test that and get back with results Alleyoop

Call John aka TvnACman who runs NYC Tested Parts and he has a tile at the top of the site. He's a good dude and will help you out. He's also an electrician for the City of NY but don't hold that against him. I think he has to get another CDI Alley...JMO. Rich

EXPLAIN to this dummy WHY HE HAS TO GET ANOTHER CDI when the BLACK ONE HE HAS FIRES THE PLUG. Which means his CDI is good his coil is good his pick up is good his stator is putting out. Alleyoop

I want to see it on the bike all sealed up with the air filter on it and ready to rock and roll. The LEFT side and the RIGHT side and the hoses going to it and from it. There should be some adjustment screws on the left side of that carb need to see those or if you can tell me. ONE SCREW should be right in the center of the carb usually with a spring behind it some without a spring that would be your IDLE SPEED SCREW(turning that Clockwise raises the IDLE and Counter Clockwise lowers the IDLE).
Another Screw will be either by the AIR FILTER side or the INTAKE SIDE. IF the screw is on the AIR FILTER SIDE that is a AIR RATIO MIXTURE Screw( turning that Clockwise feeds it more fuel Counter Clockwise LEANs the mixture out). IF the screw is on the INTAKE SIDE that is a FUEL RATIO MIXTURE Screw( turning that Clockwise LEANS it out Counter Clockwise feeds it more fuel). Alleyoop

if your hell bent on making another cdi work I can help you with that . You will need to check for 12vdc on one of the wires at that cdi harness . I have the harness plugs for the cdi you were trying to connect with tails and both ac and dc cdi .
I agree with Alley it is a fuel problem not a spark problem .
