I was using it to run a DC system on a 150cc scooter. The red wire supplied the battery and everything hooked onto the battery.
I got to thinking about this, you'll be grounding a DC component to a pure AC system. You may be asking for trouble. If you want to try it I'd hook the two ends of the regulated lighting coil to the GY6 R/R. This would be your yellow and brown off of the sled regulator. You will hook to the white and yellow pins and you'll need to ground the GY6 R/R. Your red off of the GY6 R/R will be 12v DC for the instrument and you'll need to ground it also. This will be experimental and I take no responsibility for what happens. I would use a bridge rectifier off of the sled regulator which would give you two inputs and two outputs.....easy peasy. I have no experience with sleds so you may want to consult with a forum of your peers. Scooters are single cylinder mixed AC DC systems and grounding DC to AC is not a problem. I'm not sure on your vehicle.

Interesting......the standard GY6 4 pin is designed for a white wire of about 40 volts and a yellow of about 20. I'm assuming your stator has two yellows running to your R/R? These two yellows would be of equal voltage. I would say that you would probably get 12v DC off of the red R/R wire if you hooked your AC feeds from your sled R/R to the white and yellow pins of the GY6 R/R. But this is outside of the design parameters and I think it would be a little risky. I ran a GY6 R/R just using the red wire for DC power and it survived but it got hot. How about a bridge rectifier from radio shack? You're already regulated to 12v AC. Just a thought.

The jumping forward is normal for those kinds of clutches when they're cold. Just always park it in neutral and then let the bike warm up before engaging the tranny. My Vulcan did that big time. It's due to adhesion of the oil between the plates.

So is the problem bogging or what? As Alley said that's usually too much air from an air leak or improper filter. So check your vac lines and make sure there's no leak and make sure the induction system is intact with no leaks or open nipples. Some pix would help.

There is nothing to be confused about. It's all about probability. If you go with Chinese the probability of having problems is greater than Taiwanese.....or Japanese. I personally think you get as good, or better, value from Taiwanese than Japanese. But if you go with Chinese you don't spend as much. It just depends on your wants and your wallet.

Well I think it's time to close the log down. It was 60 when I left the house this morning and it's pushing 80 right now. I just changed the engine and tranny oil yesterday and the beast is charging forward like never before. The bike continues to amaze me and people still drive beside me trying to figure out is that thing. That is of course until I crack the go handle and they try to keep up. I'm at 11K+ mileage and haven't had one problem. I thought the battery was getting a little iffy but it seems to have corrected itself. Maybe it's the warmer weather, who knows, I'm just going to keep riding. See you on this thread next fall!

There is the roulette factor in which every once in a while you get a lucky spin and you get a Chinese bike that is a workhorse. This is generally luck dependent and cannot be counted on.
I don't care how careful you are with the PDI, you're still dealing with sketchy components. You can help your chances of survival but it's still a crap shoot.
You can do everything humanly possible to assure a reasonably reliable Chinese ride but the fact of the matter is there will always be that element of uncertainty. Of course that is true of any machine but the odds are better with a Taiwanese bike.

I wish I could lay Pete's (Cyborg) resume out for all of you but it is vastly more extensive than this modest man would attest to. Same as JR, Alley, and the other bozos on this forum. But Pete and I have had many conversations lately and he has done his homework. This guy knows from whence he speaks and he has the stats. The Taiwanese are bringing it and they are bringing it to everybody else. The Taiwanese have it figured out and everybody is playing catch up. Fine.

Are there any Chinese scooters that are at least halfway decent? is there any idea what the "success rate" on Chinese scooters looks like? For me, if I've got maybe a 50/50 shot at getting a halfway reliable scooter, then it's worth the risk. My Pegasus CF Moto was not cheesy at all. I blew it up with over revving....my bad. The CF Moto Fashion was cheesy, shoddy construction. But CF is toast, take them off of the table.
I had a Motorino which is Znen. It was a solid build with good electricals and never gave me any trouble. So in answer to your question, I'd say Znen is a decent bike but still not Taiwanese. I'm not trying to sound elitist here, I've owned from Bashans to SYM and everything in between. I learned from the school of hard knocks and believe me, I tried my best to like Chinese bikes. By the way, the Motorino was toast 6 months after I sold it, I'm not sure what happened.
