Do you guys want to flog it all the time? Do you guys want to think about what's going on with your bike every time you go out? I don't. Get a Taiwanese bike and ride. The problems that come up are called....maintenance. I just fixed a Chinese bike, it was an ignition coil. I'm not sure if it was the coil or the CDI sending too much voltage. I'm sick of thinking of those things. Give me a SYM and I am on the road thinking of how nice the bike is running and....well, that's it.....it's zen.

Follow Dr. Oop's advice. Also, hold your sparkplug against the valve cover and crank the bike, you should see a bright blue arc. Also set your valve gap.

Yeah, they do that here in Bama too. I talked to a supervisor and he said they had a few robberies from guys with helmets on. I guess a few ruin it for everybody else. Rich

I'm not a mf'er......I'm a fm'er......a futher mucker. Plant, I'm glad your bike started so easy after sitting. But I don't think that's an indicator of quality. The bike was simply sitting idle for a while. The components weren't being used so how could they fail? The fact that it started just means the battery was hot, the fuel delivery clear, and the plug was OK. That's all basic maintenance. Now put 10,000 trouble free miles on that thing and we'll talk. Ride a SYM for a while and you'll see what I'm talking about. I don't begrudge anybody's right to ride Chinese or look down on them because they do. I'm just saying it's not for me anymore.

Pete, I think you're the only guy I ever talked to that knows how to pronounce jai alai. I only knew it from doing crosswords for 50 years. With your past I suspect you actually heard it spoken from some foreign babe that was from central America. You people can learn from Pete, just listen up, he has a lot to offer. And Jack, I don't look anything like that....until I get my teeth in.

Pull the carb supply line, turn on the key, if it spurts gas it's an electric pump. If it spurts when you crank it it's a vacuum pump. Most of them are vacuum.

New scooter on the way!! My pal Cookees is shipping me a Lance/SYM PCH 125. The wife loved the pix and I can't wait to get my hands on this thing. It's a 2014 and is dry, never been started or prepped! Here it is:
By the way, Cookees has a Havana left that he would cut a deal on. If somebody doesn't jump on it you're missing the boat.

You might be trying to adjust using the drain screw on the bowl. At this point we need some pictures of what you are working on. You may be just wasting time if you are on the wrong screw. There's a joke there but I am not going to make it.

Thanks Jerry, kind words from a kind and knowledgeable man. Pete, quit spitting on me with the Daffy Duck imitation!
Here's the short story. In 2009 my wife ordered two crate scooters from Green Earth Scooters that were manufactured by Bashan Aeronautical Thingie Group. They were flawed.....very flawed. The wife's bike had a crushed battery acid container and acid had dripped all over the engine. The bolt that held the handlebars on was way too small and the bars wobbled all over the place. I kept thinking I was doing something wrong and finally I realized these things were crap. I made them work and in the process Jack and I started Scooter Doc. In search of a nicely built scooter I ran through a Motorino, two CFs, a Puma, and finally a SYM. The SYM was the bullseye, everything else fell short although I tried my best to love them. So that's what brings me to this juncture and also explains my handle, it was our first two bikes. I understand folks desire to keep a Chinese scooter and try to make it work but I'm tapped out in that regard. I gave it my best and I fell short, congrats to those that do make it work.

Got the Puma running, it looks like it was another bad coil. John's R/R and stator seem to be working stellar pumping out 14.5v DC. I'm running an AC CDI off of John's stator. It has a magneto coil you can use for an AC CDI or run DC if you wish. Still, the wife is gun shy for this bike now and insists on Taiwanese. So I'll be selling the Puma to help pay for the new bike. Cyborg suggested cleaning out my basement and just keeping two bikes, I think I will heed his advice.

Looks like a PCH 125 is in our sites. Lance brand but made by SYM. The wife likes the looks, I gotta get the deal made and NEW SCOOTER!! I'm working on the Puma right now, I'd like to sell it to help pay for the Lance. First I gotta get it running.

At this point it looks like the Kymco is dead in the water. The dealer that was in town appears to have merged with a motorcycle dealer and they look sketchy. However, there's a Lance PCH 125 that appears to be afoot. Lance is made by SYM so I would love to have one. Plus it's a smallish bike perfect for the wife. I'll keep y'all posted. In regards to Cookees selling me something under false pretenses, he never overstated anything that I bought from him. I was the one that wanted CF Moto and he gave me great deals. I pushed both CFs over the limit and if I had used my head with them they would probably still be running. I had the Peg well into the 9K RPM range when it roasted and too many 75MPH runs with the Fashion. I can only blame myself. He did tell me when he sold me the SYM that they are "bulletproof" and so far he has been spot on.
