You gave me a great deal on every bike. You could not have been more honest or straightforward. I don't regret any of the deals we made, or the gross conversations we had, I learned a lot and had fun doing it. Don't get me wrong folks, Cookees was above reproach in all of this, I'd buy another bike from him in a heartbeat......if it was a SYM.

Pete has a good point, the torque spring could be fatigued. I'd also swap the belt and look at the clutch pads. Are they glazed or worn?

John, look at your signature, it's a poster child for what I am saying. If it's not one thing breaking it's another. Actually I haven't sorted through what's wrong with this bike and that's not fair to you. It's failure may have nothing to do with what we did together, it probably didn't. I'm just saying I'm sick of failing Chinese components and I am moving on. We are going to go look at Kymco bikes in the morning and I am going to get the wife a bike she will not think twice about getting on. Everybody can parse whether it was the battery, or stator, or R/R, or connections, or whatever. The fact of the matter is my SYM has NEVER failed, the Puma has started giving me a boatload of trouble. The front end shakes, the rotor wobbles, the fairing rattles.....I'm done folks, put a fork in this bike....and me.....we're done with Chinese. If y'all want me to bow out of this forum because of how I feel I will but I never said this was a Chinese scooter forum and neither did Jack when we started it. I'm buying a Kymco and I'm getting rid of all the Chinese products I have. Dredge up what you will on this forum, I know what I wrote, you won't embarrass me. I know when to move on.....do you?

No, I'm fine, I've never been more at ease. I turned a corner, no more Chinese. I am at peace, I have already sent off e-mails to dealers about Kymcos and Genuines. I will ride, and my wife will ride, non-Chinese bikes. The page has turned and it will not turn back, thus life shall be and shant turn agley.

I am done! That's it I've had it. We started out for a ride a few days ago and the battery on my wife's Chinese bike failed. Of course the SYM banged off as usual. I looked everything over and charged the battery and we went out today. Her bike shut down 10 minutes into the ride. We nursed it back to the house with some pushing (by moi!) and letting it cool. I leap frogged the SYM the whole way back because I was NOT letting my machine sit by the roadside.
That's it, I am sick of Chinese sh!t! I am getting her a SYM or Kymco and I am not dealing with Chinese anymore. I don't care what anybody says, I know how to work on these things and that's what you do with the Chinese....WORK ON THEM!! I will not have another Chinese bike. I know what I've said in the past but I am done, they are a POS and I am sick of worrying when we go out about her bike breaking down. I have quit thinking about the SYM breaking down. At 11K it is better than ever and has NEVER let me down! I never said this was a Chinese scooter forum, it is a SCOOTER forum! I will still address Chinese scooter issues in the tech section but if somebody asks what scooter to buy, I'll say Taiwanese or Korean. I want to ride, not cobble together a bunch of sh!t!

I agree with John, pull the CVT cover and have a look. Put it on the center stand and give it some RPMs and observe what the belt does.

Alley, I'm sorry, you are a little beyond the new Sino scooter owner. You built race cars and rode many bikes. Your level of expertise is above what most people bring to the forum. You're going to catch things before they turn into a problem and that's above simple maintenance. IMO, Chinese bikes take a level of mechanical ability above what a newcomer needs. It seems easy for you because it is, the tyros are going to need help. But then again, that's why we're here.

If you want to stick with Chinese go with Znen but they are still not SYM quality. The Taiwanese are worth the bucks.

Is it the horizontal or vertical engine? What do you mean by chokes out? You have an O2 sensor?

The speedos are generally worthless. Use a GPS to get an idea of how fast you are actually going. There are no passenger pegs. There may be a couple of plastic blocks at the back of your floorboards that are supposed to be footrests. They are about as effective as the speedo.
