I was actually going to pull the front end off and have a look today for you but i wont worry about it now. I have 8 scooters in total and im working on 4 of them atm. My outlaw scooter was in an accident 2months ago and i havent riden it since as i need to do frame work on it. I have other problems to worry about than remembering how i wired up the dash to it, i tried helping you best i could.. if you cant respect that then piss off mate What on Earth are you talking about? I didn't purchase the odometer from you, the rant was about the person I bought it from, not you. You are the sole person on 4 scooter forums, that I have seen has this identical instrument cluster. So, when I came across this thread, I was excited I may have found someone who could help, and then you said you didn't remember how it is what hooked up.... Okay, fine... You don't remember...I'm not mad and didn't think I said anything offensive.... The " " icon isn't directed towards you, ..I was venting my frustration.. Let me re-word it like this: , why does hooking this thing up have to be so difficult.... Anyhow, even though no offense was meant, If I did offend you I apologize as no offense was meant.

GY6 Project

Well thank you for the kind words. I have a "B" engine I need to do a rebuild on too. Although it's us that needs to be thanking guys and gals like you that take the time to post these types of threads... It's not like there's a GY6 school we can go to, so we're left to our own devices to try and figure this stuff out... Because of people like you and Rapidjim, it makes it possible for us to work on our own scoots! If we ever meet in person, I owe you a drink! I have been looking up info about the GY6 232cc for quite a while now... It requires the "B" block and I would love to see a step by step on how to build one. My scooter is a 150cc Bintelli havoc and my motor is stamped with BN157QMJ, I was super stoked! Thought I had a "B" case motor... But the president of Bintelli had his tech guys look it up and it is in fact a A case (54mm) motor.... I was bummed... I really wanted to turn my scoot into a 232cc..... 67mm, +8.2 stroker, water and oil cooled... Oh yeah, that's me all day long! Anyhow, I really look forward to the b case build if you decide to do it. Be sure to send me a PM if I miss it....

I believe some of them use a magnet on the front Wheel and a stationary hall sensor to get the speed. Then you input the circumfrence of the wheel to calibrate the speeds. Could even glue a magnet to inner of brake disk. Yes, but this one is not like that. It just has a mechanical hookup....You program your rim size into the cluster. This is turning out to be a very frustrating purchase... I specifically asked the seller before I purchased if they included a wiring diagram and they said yes. And to make matters worst, the seller is Chinese and doesn't speak English... When the seller finally replied he listed descriptions for 10 wires, it only has 9... In addition, one of the wires he listed as the door lock... What kind of motorcycle/scoot has frickin doors? To top it off, the one person I find that has one installed doesn't remember how it's hooked up.....

My previous digital speedo had a yellow/black wire which i wrapped around the coil for the pickup and for it to pickup the speed, uses standard speedo cable I found this thread using photobucket when I viewed your paint job on your new scoot... I need help. When I clicked on your photos (to see the full size)it took me to photobucket as I was viewing your photos I came across your picture of this speedometer cluster... I recently purchased the exact same speedo off of ebay but it didn't come with any instructions or wiring diagrams. This image has been reduced by 25%. Click to view full size. Will you help me with the wires and tell me what they go to? I have about half them figured out...... but a couple of them I'm lost....These are the colors I have and what I have figured out so far RED .........................................(12v+ Keyed on) Light Blue .................................(r turn) Yellow w/white stripe Green .......................................(ground) Orange .....................................(L turn) Green w/Yellow stripe Brown w/black strip Blue .........................................(high beam) Red with white stripe................(for pulse coil/tach pick up) Please correct any that I have wrong and fill in the ones I can't figure out yet! Thanks a million! Read more: scooterdoc.proboards.com/thread/10289/scoot#ixzz3JA1Tc2WV

Yeah, if you can get a dealer to honor the $400.00 for a 2014, 50cc, that would be quite a score!

Still confused? Have a shop do the work for you LOL No, I'm not confused anymore. I had just never heard of a press before but now it makes perfect sense on how to use it.... On a side note, my name is Dan, so I can't tell you how many times I've heard "wax on, wax off young Daniel son"...

Thanks dmart, what do you think about the price? I'm not sure, I haven't researched the 50cc all that much. I've looked into the 125cc... But I do have a general idea for what they go for... $2000 isn't a bad price, but pay attention to the year.. Yamaha already has the 2015's hitting the showroom floors... So, if you buy a brand new one, and it's say a 2013, that's going to hurt your resale value... But, if you're getting a 2013, you may be able to beat the dealer up with price and get a steal! One thing I want to point out... You're going to find people that point to a brand new chinese scoot for as low $500~$750.00... And that price may be a good deal for what it is... But a Chinese scooter is not in the same class as a Yamaha Zuma.... Granted, this is all my opinion and I for sure advise doing a ton of research.. Good luck with what ever you decide and if you get a Zuma,, post lots of pics! They are sweet arse scooters, afterall...!

Anyone can chime in on what to expect from a new Zuma compared to my tao tao, any comments would be appreciated. I have a Bintelli Havoc, 150cc and it is a Yamaha Zuma clone. At least that's what I was told by the dealer I purchased it from. And while it's true, it does look like a Zuma and a few parts are interchangeable, thatis not the case when it comes to the engine. The Zuma has a far superior engine compared to your typical 50cc or a 125/150cc GY6. For starters, it has an EFI (electronic fuel injection), ECU supporting modern protocols .... The engine itself has better quality components and is covered in heat dissipating fins.... In addition, there's a million upgrades for the Zuma.... Number one reason, Yamaha has setup shop throughout the USA and service, parts and information is widely available. Yes, it's a more expensive scooter, but as the ole saying goes; "You get what you pay for".

Guess you guys never ever heard or seen a press or you can go the GHETTO WAY BANG IT OFF AND BANG IT ON. Alleyoop No, I haven't. When I read his (RapidJim) post, I couldn't seem to grasp how would you would "press" something "off".... Normally, when I think of the word press, I picture something like using my arms to press down (apply pressure) on something... The whole pressing action is normally used for smashing something, or putting together,.... But off !?! .... I just couldn't figure out what he was talking about. But now I understand! Thanks.... However, how on Earth do you use one of those contraptions (the press itself)?

Hope I cleared up "the press it on press it off" confusion Alleyoop No. However, that was informative about what you get when you order gears.

Yeah but how do you remove it and what do you use to press it on Mr. Smarty Pants? Right, that's what I was wondering.... Is this a tool? A machine?

What an awesome thread! Thanks for taking the time to publish the pics and all the informative post! I learned a lot reading this post.... You are welcome Jim, in your opening post you make this comment: What does that mean? How do you "press" something off?
