That type of valve does not use a lock nut. It is just pushed into the rim. I predict there is leakage where the valve comes out of the rim. Spray the whole stem with windex and see if it causes a series of small bubbles. And stop using slime in your tire. It just makes a mess and acts as a temporary band aid. Please show us a photo of the tire that is leaking air. If it is time for a new tire, it is the perfect time to get a new valve. Order one of these to keep in your toolbox...... scooter valve on ebay

Windex works great to find a leak. Inflate the tire, then spray the whole valve with windex. If there is a leak, the windex will keep making small bubbles. Sometime air will leak from valve core. Sometime air will leak at the base of the stem which means you should tighten the stem nut with a wrench. Show us a photo of your stem.
If there is no leak, spray the entire tire to check for leaks.

Attach jumper cables from your scooter to your car. Do NOT start your car. Try to start your scooter. If it starts, you need a new battery even though you think you don't.

Using walmart conventional car oil 20w50. Winters rarely drop below freezing here in central California. 1988 Yamaha manual calls for 20w40, but no one makes that grade anymore.

23,000 miles on it. Parts are hard to find. Will probably just tolerate the burning oil. Thanks guys.

My 1988 Yamaha Riva 125cc 4-stroke started burning oil. I am losing about half a quart every 1,000 miles. Any way I can fix this?

You might want to buy a mulitmeter which will help you locate the short. Everyone should own a multimeter.

Bring the fuse to an auto parts store so you will know which one to get.

I can't tell if the fuse is burned out, but go ahead and switch it with the spare fuse which is right next to it. And buy more fuses on ebay.

I found some online stores that sell California-legal scooters but they have bad reviews. Can anyone recommend one?

Look on the bright side. You are allowed to have a 2 stroke. I want one but they are banned in California.

Rode my scooter to the store today. Saw a Chinese scooter in the parking lot. Saw a teenager with a helmet walking to it. Asked him if I could ride his scooter for $5. He agreed. It's a Roketa 150cc scooter with only 300 miles on it (assuming the odometer was not tampered with). He said he bought the scooter from someone else on Craigslist. I Asked him if he would sell it. He offered it to me for $800. I told him I would think about it. Is that a good deal?
