I live in Miami Beach, Fl and am learning to fix my own scooter. I am buying all these tools to do it and leaning how. The prices here are out of this world at the shops and there are about 500 scooters around South Beach, everywhere. If I wanted to fix scooters as a side job would I have to have a small engine mechanic license (to do this legally?) I cant find info on it anywhere. Im a personal trainer and I know by law you dont have to be certified to personal train for money. You just can't call yourself a certified personal trainer and most gyms will not hire u I wasnt sure how it worked with licences to fix 50CC scooters.

Ok, my scooter has 68 miles on it and I just refilled the gas for the first time so I decided to also check the tire and and oil while I was at the gas station. Tires were fine, oil seemed low and I didn't want to just add oil to it, not knowing what it came with, so I did my first oil chage w/ 10w/30 regular oil. I asked a bunch of scooter shops in the area (since they are used to the weather here in Miami) and they all said use reg 10w/30 oil for the engine. The oil change went fine other than it was a bitch to get the cap back on ( line up the threads ) with the spring working against me but I made it happen. Then I filled it up a little too much ( I was checking along the way too ) and the last thing I wanted to do was take that cap back off so I siphoned the oil back out where the dip stick goes with a straw and my thumb It worked well, took a while of checking and redoing it but all is well. There were no little metal shards in the filter and just because I already did the oil change at only 68 miles I think I'm going to do my next one after another 150miles so it has more time to break in. After that I'm going to do it every 621 miles ( strange # right) well the manual says every 1000km so here in America, that means every 621 mile LOL. I don't know why they can't put the type of engine and gear oil to use in the manual, just how often to do stuff. It says next at 186 miles to replace gear oil, check/clean spark plug and clean carb, but nothing about adjusting the valves or brakes as I have heard to do pretty early on, are these 2 items really necessary? Is it hard to do. I'm still shaky w doing my own things but I want to learn So far I've only replaced engine oil and a battery and a fuse on a scooter before robb its air cooled 4 stroke it has the little strainer looking reusable oil filter

I just emailed the manufacu. to see what kind of engine oil, gear oil and brake fluid to use. My manual does't say and its not even really in english. LOL. Hopefully they get back to me. I bought the scooter 4 hrs ago. I want to make it LAST. If they don't get back to me is there a generic / type of these fluids that go for all cheap Chinese scooters? The dealership said they have no idea either ( they also don't speak much English ) LOL. Taizhou Chuanl Motorcycle Manufacturing Co. Ltd / Longbo 49CC is what the sticker on the Scooter says. My registration just says " black scooter " LOL. I guess the same scooter goes by a zillion different names. It often goes by " LB50QT-6 " though.
