Thanks Alley. I thought of that today. I was thinking, what if this thing goes while I'm driving? I'll be able to not accelerate or, not be able to decelerate and I'll have to hit the kill switch. Scooters need the double blinker option for emergencies. Ahhh my jetski. I need to get out on her ASAP. Killer weather here. Ya I can just yank the safety lanyard off the knob ( kill switch ) That is a whole-nother monster I'm learning on top of bike repairs. Hopefully when its time to replace the wear ring on the impeller I can do it myself since its a $300 job at repair places. No thanks! I have BoatUS towing for the jetski, AAA for the scooter and buses with bike racks for bike break downs. I'm covered

heh this may turn into a soda thread. I try not to drink soda and when I'm having a real craving for it I sometimes opt for sparking water with orange or grape sugar free mio squirted in. Then again sparking water isn't that great for you either and I cringe when I hear people count it towards their daily suggest water intake. Nothing like that sugary citrus caffeine goodness though. Why can't they come out with a sugar and aspartame free beverage that has caffeine AND tastes awesome ? Things I know from my nutrition cert can be saved for another day though

Thanks!! I was just about to buy this to fix it for now until I saw your post and the right way to fix it is about the same price www.jbweld.com/product/j-b-plasticweld-putty/ I'm used to things being tricky at first with this scooter. LOL.

you don't go MIA as bad as I do on these boards. 44oz. You sound like me when I used to drink a 3 liter of mountain dew a day a work. I was 14 and they made 3 liters back then. LOL. Lets just say that place was spic and span clean with how much I'd clean and organize on my caffeine fits. a couple ideas to consider that are less conventional than your average cup holder. You could try a hydration bag. (I use mine for biking) Just toss your dew in it and leave it in the fridge or freezer. (Its freezer safe plastic) and the bag is insulated. www.walmart.com/ip/Outdoor-Products-Kilometer-Hydration-Pack-with-2L-Bladder/27607081The one in that link has crap colors but you can get " low profile ones like that for around $18 in the bicycle and camping section of Walmart. Or if you want more storage room you can get one that has pockets like a smaller type book bag. For reaching drinks easily on my jetski I bought this which I put the strap of under my seat to secure it. Its meant for horses but you can use it for scooters, jetski's etc too The cup holders wont hold a 44oz but the pockets on it open will and its semi insulated. It looks kind of beat up in the picture but in person it is a nice solid black canvas. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002HW09U0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1My last idea for holding any size drink bottle would be if you took an empty protein powder tub and cut off the top , cut holes in the sides and bungeed it around the bottom of your scooter floor. Kinda ghetto but if you could find a tub to match your scooter, like a black one, it may look a little better. I use my old protein tubs by cutting them off and planting stuff in them since its seems impossible for me to find white planters of that size. Not sure why white plastic planters are so uncommon. Empty protein tubs can also be used for cheap boat to dock bumpers Or you could use a small empty bucket from home depot for something more sturdy. If you run bungee cords through it and around it instead of just around it it would hold the drink more secure in it too. I have a thing for the $3.25 10 pack of black and purple one foot bungee cords in the camping section of walmart lately more ideas can be found by google / image : search 44oz. cup holder. www.google.com/search?q=44oz+cup+holder&safe=off&espv=2&biw=1517&bih=747&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=atxDVKb9E6TL8QHWlIBY&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAg&dpr=0.9Good luck

I was having a tough time getting the plastic up and over the brake fluid thingee on top of my scooter when changing the headlight assembly) but managed to anyway. At first I tried to take the lid off of this to give me more room to get the cover off and quickly realized that turning these screws are like putting a screwdriver into butter. Super cheap screws that will strip with just one more turn. I don't need to change the brake fluid now but am trying to be proactive. Does anyone know the type and length of screw I'll need to put in here? Also what kind are good for not rusting? It also doesn't hurt to have spare screws on ya If I have to use a backout set to get these out when the time comes that's fine because I have one.

Hello. When I fix one thing on this scooter another goes bad I got the turning signal relay and new headlights in ( they fit and work but as I was putting it back together I noticed the plastic piece that works the throttle is cracked half way around. It also seems like it may have a little too much play in it. It still works but I know when this goes I will probably not be able to accelerate so I want to order parts and fix it ASAP. Here is a 3 second video of the issue: www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10201995458648477&l=123019705993287722What part do I order? Is this a hard to fix thing? Can I get the part in metal instead of plastic? Thanks!

Welcome. Here a lot of dealers sell electric scooters and label them as " electric bikes " and I think they lead people to believe they don't need to be registered or licensed since the plates on the back say " electric bike " instead of a real license plate . Cops have been cracking down. I agree on the need for more speed. They say usually 49CC scooters go 30mph but not that they HAVE to go only that much to not need the motorcycle endorsement, just that it has to be under 49cc. Mine goes 38mph full throttle. I'd like mine to go 50mph so that I can keep it 40mph max and not have to be laying on it full throttle. You won't get away with more than 40mph on a 49cc in Miami. Its all I need to get over a couple more bridge options from Miami to Miami beach because some of them are 40mph. That will come once I get everything else squared away on my scoot though

RichardV - It may have been different in the past but now all scooters (even under 50cc, and electric ) in FL must be registered / titled and the operator must have a valid regular drivers license. If its over 50cc you have to have a motorcycle endorsement on your license. - - The only things you dont need a drivers licence or registration for are bicycles with an electric motor added on that doesn't go over 20mph. ( Gas motors added on require registration and drivers license ) I researched it extensively before I got my scooter

richardv - thanks. Ive use ones like that before and it rains torrential hard here. The scooter would always be soaked after. Now I'm doing a thick tarp with some heavy duty mini clamp clips but leaving spaces for air to get in, but have it positioned so water can't get in. I didnt start doing this until after the covers were discolored and had already been soaked with my old covers. guitarman - exactly. I was just making bad joke about it Okay so the turning signal relay is supposed to come today and so I took the top apart and could see items of good news... 1) the head light assembly has no cover, it IS just so hazed/fogged over so bad that it looks like there is a cover on it. 2) headlight assembly is a 4 prog plug and thats what I ordered 3) relay is a 3 prong plug and that's what I ordered ( I was almost positive they were the right ones but this further confirmed it) 4) the speedometer and cover were very easy to get off I tried in different areas (both sides of the cover) bug spray, tooth paste, scrubbed hard with baking soda, let bleach set then scrubbed in, nothing last resort was CLR and steel wool, nothing. That discoloration is baked in there good. The speedometer itself was in perfect shape. I saw some covers on Ebay for $10 that I thought would fit but looked closer and realized they wont. I saw this on Ebay for $25 if I wanted a whole new speedometer(also Alley linked me to it as well) but replacing it would be HELL. www.ebay.com/itm/Sunny-Speedometer-49cc-50cc-GY6-Engine-Chinese-SCOOTER-/221435086529?pt=Other_Vehicle_Parts&hash=item338e8f46c1&vxp=mtrIt says in the add its a 9 pin, 8 wire connection (sounds easy) but the back of my speedometer has a few wires going to one three prong connection and the rest going into a major wire bundle all taped together down in the column. I hope I never have to deal with that. If the speedometer dies I'll prob just let it sit there dead. I know what 15mph feels like for school zones, what 30 feels like and it doesn't go over 40 so I'll be fine with not knowing exactly should s**t hit the fan with it. Also I'm quite used to looking in the gas tank to see if I have enough gas since I had a malfunctioning fuel gauge before I replaced the sensor when I replaced the gas tank. lol. I don't even want a new cover should I find one. Getting it back on was a ROYAL bitch to line up coming through the hole in the front for it while trying to get those two tine screws in at an angle. I ended up taping it in place so I could KEEP it lined up and then screw them in. Can't wait to get the relay and ride legal LOL. My mechanic was laughing at how the relay was working. If i flicked on the right turn signal relay it would flash normal a few times while the left one was super barely there flashing dim, after a few good flashes it would go as dim as the left one which wasn't even turned on. Same for the back. Weird. EDIT *** just got the turning signal relay in the mail and put it in. Turned ignition on, tried brakes and turning signals, nothing, fuel guage won't even rise when I turn the key wont start. Texted my mechanic and he said make sure the color wires are lining up on the plug in spot and you prob blew a battery fuse. Replace and try again. Took me seconds to do this and that turning signal relay is BEAUTIFUL. Perfect. So excited. Now if I can go ahead and not have problems putting the new head light assembly in, new fuel lines and filter (done before so its cake) and the trunk latch, I will be a happy camper.

LOL! Thanks guys. It's okay. I need a good " talkin' too " with how much I've neglected this scooter which does nothing but bring me joy when he's up and running The dogs usually only ride on the bicycle. The scooot has to be in perfect shape for me to strap them to my back with the massive doggy back pack carrier and cruise on the scooter with them. I only hope it doesn't cause a traffic distraction where someone is looking at them, isnt paying attention then rear ends me LOL Wow around 5 min. oh geeze. Ya I was pumping air for about 7 seconds in between checking the air pressure. I'm just used to it going up much faster. Either way. Using a different pump. I just want to get the turning signal relay installed which is due to come tomorrow. With my luck i'll get pulled over going to the gas station for it not working.

If you're not ready for a novel, come back later lol. Well after a 30 mile bike ride with the pups today... (bike basket cage set up on the way, and dog back pack carrier set up with the top off on the way back)... .... I had zero energy and still had to go to the white trash ghetto circus tonight ( Walmart ) and so I decided to take my scooter for a ride as part of the "at least twice a week" drive to keep my battery happy. This was the first time taking it out since I charged up the battery and the mechanic fixed it. He also started it and stopped it a zillion times testing it before a test drive around the block so I knew the battery was " less than thrilled " So it was my first ride after it sitting for 6 months. I knew I'd need air in the tires and some more gas. The mechanic reminded me to definitely get since the tires felt low. I told him that's what the quarters in the front pocket were for and I'd do it when I go out on it. The tire as well as the mechanic said to get 35 PSI in the tires. It took a couple times to get it to start but it did and sounded / idled great. I started driving towards Walmart and realized that I forgot the tire air that I was going to get a block from my house. I didn't want to start and stop it until I had my battery charged up so I decided to get the air and more gas when I got home. I rode it ~ 30 blocks to walmart, parked, came back out to the scooter after and it started up first try. I drove home and stopped at that gas station to put air in the tires. I added some air and the rear tire read nothing on the air pressure gauge so I added more and still nothing. I've never had a gauge just not pop out so I figured maybe the gauge was broken so I tried the front tire, same thing, nothing. I added more air anyway. Now I was worried that maybe I put too much air in. Before putting quarters in the other air machine, I tried the tire gauge and same thing, neither was reading anything. I put about 75% more air in the rear tire than the front one. I proceeded to go to the gas station attendant inside and ask if they had a tire gauge since both seemed broken. He said no. I asked if he had one for sale. He said no. A man in the store over heard me and said he has a gauge for me to use. I thanked him and took him up on his offer. Rear tire read nothing. Front tire read 15 PSI. Holy crap, I shouldn't have driven it like that! I was wondering if my rear tire just didn't want to accept air or what. The last time I neglected my scooter it was for a year and when I put air in it read SOMETHING and as I added air the PSI reading kept going up when I checked. So I'm kind of dumbfounded. Maybe its just so low that its taking much longer than I expect to fill it back up? I'm afraid of the thing blowing up in my face. I drove one block up the street home and as I was about to enter the gate off my driveway I heard " bruuup bruup " (police siren) and I'm getting pulled over in my own driveway. They ask me if I live there. I said ya i rent the house in the back, (2 cop cars in my driveway) the one cop looks around the side of the house and says " ya there's a house back there " i said are you looking for someone? he said well we're just checking scooters. I said okay and gave them my info. They said actually we wanted you to know your rear tire looks dangerously low. I said ya i know i tried to add air at the gas station but the tire gauge wasn't working so im going to try again at another gas station. These guys were parked right by the gas station so they prob saw me leaving it. They said okay get it filled asap. No ticket. At least one of them was hot. I really thought I was in trouble for my intermittently working turning signal relay ( another part on order ) and I made sure that I wouldn't have to take any turns that weren't a turning only lane to get to walmart so I wouldn't have to use the signal lol ( except the first turn out of the driveway and the last turn back into it) I was thinking " just my luck i get pulled over at the last turn to get home ) I'm glad that wasn't it since I'd probably have a hard time getting out of that ticket. So... ill be getting air next time I take my scooter out at the other gas station near by. And to end this novel I've written here are my 2 questions... 1) can a tire for some reason sit in the heat so long that it refuses take on air ( I definitely had the air lined up right on the stem ) ? OR Is it just so low that its probably taking forever to read or show increase in PSI? Again afraid of adding too much and it blowing up in my face. I could have sworn I saw the tire getting harder when I was putting air into the rear tire. 2) should I use some sort of tire conditioner to make the tire more " rubbery " ? I'm afraid the heat dried it out. (although it has always been covered so no direct sunlight) I may be worried about nothing and the tire tread is just fine. It only has 400 ish miles on it. I've just never had this happen with PSI not even reading or going up. Thanks.

guitar man - oh God I don't want to think about that.
Thanks for the tips. It makes sense. I found the magic of baking soda for cleaning certain things. I used bleach and steel wool to clean a porcelain tub. It left black streaks so I googled what to do and someone suggested rubbing baking soda into it and it looks good as new now. fewwwww
Alley - thanks. I ordered that head light assembly since mine is all cracked. my speedometer isnt as important to me because it works but if easy enough to get off I'll try to clean it.
