Just a few words : running a 2 cycle engine too rich in the carb fuel air settings also will foul out a plug . Running rich does keep the engine from getting as hot tempwise as if it was leaned out too much ! ;D willc. ;D

Tiny bit more of progress to report . I got the rear brake cable attached and trimmed the clutch cable before doing some minor cable adjustments. Needed still : 1 quart 30weight non detrergent oil to fill the crankcase ( will take about 2 /3rds of the bottle . cost $4 ) and 1 gal of fuel ( $3.51 / gal cheapest fuel price here in Boise at the moment ) . Once that is done then I need to attach the leads to the battery on the frame then tighten down the spark plug and attach the sparkplug cap to it. I may run a test for spark , to make sure I have spark before turning on the fuel petcock and trying to kick start the engine to life . When I will get to do that may be a few days to a week . Funds are very very tight at the moment so I'll post again when either I can finally claim the thrill of victory or suffer the agony of defeat to this project !! Eitherway I'll have my camera with me when this time is finally upon us .
willc.

Check the reference section for trouble shooting guides: No spark diagnostics to check your output on the stator assy on your scoot. Run the diagnostics and report back with the results . willc. ;D

Busy afternoon with some further progress , high winds and dust all over the place while working on the scoot . Todays progress : stator /scoot frame wiring connected , lower airbox , carb , fuel line, throttle cables are now installed on the engine . The clutch cable, its adjustments ( which can be a royal pain in the tuchas to deal with ) , the shifter assembly and rear brakes are next on the list to do. I may also get brave and check for spark for the first time once the scoots battery is hooked back up . This engine is kick start only so there is no electric starter to deal with . I still need to get fuel into the gas tank with the right amount of 2 cycle oil mixed with it before I can try and start the engine up for the first time . More to come as time permits! willc.

Trying to get a vespa engine mounted into a frame on your own isn't all what it was cracked up to be ! After adding yet more brusies , many well timed 4 letter words , twice tipping over the scoot (and then trying to get it back on the moded motorcycle jack) ripping the seam out of the pants I was wearing and a few needed pepsi breaks to re evaluate why this idiot was doing some of this work without help , in a 3hr time frame. You should now have the picture on how this work session went . The engine is now finally mounted on the frame and bolted in . I can now start dealing with the electrical system issues, mounting the carb , shifter assembly , and hopefully seeing if the engine will work as hoped. More to come in the next couple of days as weather permits. willc.

After a tad bit of fitting work on the crankcase the new flywheel , stator and clutch assy are now installed. I had to do some soldering work on the new stator assy before I left home . Luckily the wiring was the same as my stella's original stator assy .I swapped over the connectors and hope that will work. Next item on to do list is to get the engine mounted on the Stella's chassis . From my previous expierence this may take about 1 hr to get the long frame bolt and the shock mounting bolt put in. Once this is done I can start dealing with the cables , electrical wiring and carburetor installation . Hope to do that Sunday weather permitting. Hope to take a few photos once I pick up some more aa batterys . willc.

Pease checkyour air-fuel mix screw on your carb and plug chop(pull your sparkplug ) and check for color at end of tip. Black = too rich , light cream color= too lean . It needs to be a dark tan to tan color at the tip . It sounds like you may be a tad too lean. screw out 1/8 turn and see if that helps. willc.

The flywheel and stator assy came in today. The FEDEX tracking had estimated it would be "Friday" for delivery . Time from order to actual arrival :10 days . I thought it would come via the orient but the tacking had later said it was in France , then Germany then here today ! No customs dutys were charged to me . The parts were in the original box sealed at the factory when it was made. The flywheel was the same size as the I tried to use. However there were big differences in the clearance around the edge . I'll try and get some pics taken later on this week on the differences . Otherwise I have been down with laryngitis since Sunday and still not much improvement today !! Trust me , I'll be a happy camper when I finally get my voice back ;D willc.

We will know soon enough !! How much of a smoke screen the p200e exhaust will put out is yet to be seen. I had a neighbor down the hall last May yell in my face about the smoke the old engine was putting out, while I was in the parkinglot when I was working on the scoots engine. willc.

On this engine , no ! Since my last posting I ordered a new flywheel and stator assy combo from a dealer in India ( via Ebay) on April 3rd . It ran me about $96 total with shipping . It is original LML and the wiring off the stator matches up with my Stella's wiring. The Stella is actually made in India by LML for Genuine Scooter Company who sells them here in the USA . In Europe they are sold by LML as the LML Star . The new flywheel I purchased doesn't have the teeth on the outer edges for the electric starter . If I am correct it ( the new flywheel) is also abit smaller in diameter than the one I tried to use ! It is strictly for kickstart only. That means it will not be snagging on the cylinder assy . There are small differences between Vespa kickstart crankcases and the newer electric start versions. There is more clearance for a electric starter and it's larger flywheel . The kickstart version flywheel and crankcase has less clearance and the flywheel area is a tad bit smaller than a electric start flywheel .Unfortunatly I found that out the hardway . Luckily the seller I ordered from had 100% positive feedback on Ebay and the pricing was reasonable with shipping . The seller shipped my purchase by FedEx aswell. Both items ( Flywheel and Stator Assy) should hopefully be here by next Friday pending there is no issues with US Customs ! Thats what FedEx said on the tracking info I got from the seller. Hopefully next weekend when the parts show up, I can get going and try and finish this project !! will c.
