Well I'm also in the process of changing out the starter gear from trying to make that 30mm carb work on a cheap blue cdi off ebay so now I'm tracking down a performance cdi that doesn't cause starting issues Your motor should have the larger valves ports but pay attention tot he intake port size when installing the 30mm on a Stock Motor. Here area coupe pics showing the Intake manifold Diameter Difference. Gasket overlay also.
Sorry bro I see Ive already posted this stuff to you.

Sorry all for the disapppearing act but I was beyond my limit in money patience well just everything. But im back got a new piston and cylinder kit. Took my time putting it together and made sure my ring gaps were correct at .010.. ok so put it in and a massive bump in compression. ..imo. ok so now im trying to get my timing set. Im getting popping and stuff and ALOT of white/grey smoke poring out the exhaust when trying to start. So what do I need to attack first the smoke or the timing...or are the related? Thx guys again sorry. Just needed to step away for a bit Timing,.. something other than smoke With the renewed Compression she should pop right off. (start right up). Does it say running at all?

The exhaust is still stock yes but I did take it off and gutted out some of the internals enough to make it straight through and drimmeled as much as I could at the port to match the motor but even then not really enough I've just seen some scooters with less than what I've got get a 30mm tuned in but I guess I over shot it lol and I can't use 1 of the traditional bbk with a 1p57qmj motor... so down sizing it is K, cool Thanks for being honest, its the Best way we can help you and Benefit many others.

I wasn't go and throw down a bunch of perf. gains without documentation. pic,vid etc. I made three changes at once and found a problem with the Vari, fairly sizable mph gain. True dat the Larger carb manifold is much larger than the Port itself, I know some won't admit to hogging it out to match (while still on the motor) but still dumping a toilet into a straw. OE stock on right.. dunno if I'm even going t use this stuff, barbaric OE stock on right again, crude very crude

Yes try the #32 pilot and 114 main to much fuel for your stock motor. Just to get an idea my motor is bored out with a stroker to 182ccs and the carb is a 24mm with #38pilot and 122.5. If a motor is stock and you add free flow filter and free flow exhaust you bump up ONLY THE MAIN JET by at least 4 sizes from what is in there. But slapping in a 30mm carb that usually come with the 250s on a basically stock motor that is called over carbing a motor, to much fuel and to much air. If you still cannot tune it right just slap the 24mm back on with a #35 pilot and the 114 main jet and it should run really good. Alleyoop The "Over Carb'd" was the direction I was going. Specially with Stock exhaust. And Stock Exhaust. Oh Boy This was My Stock Head Pipe, ID Smaller than the Exh. port. Flange not centered and stud holes three times to big, All have the Flashing inside and Look at that Big Ol Goober of Weld in there. I can't even get the dmn thing indexed straight to dump. Allot of FAKE Perf exhaust to empty you wallet, AT least make sure you get a Stainless Head Pipe the same dis. as the ex. port. then any Free Flow fart can will do Yes its Too LOUD. btwI have stock internals, ya know air ,exh, ign. mod and have a 26mm working Very well. Do I have a Dyno sheet from the 24mm to the 26mm, No

Hey, Well I'm trying to get this carb to tune and idle correctly, I'm 850ft above sea level, carb came stock with a 35 idle jet and a 120 main jet and I can't get the scooter to idle unless I hold the throttle wide open, is there any 1 else out there gotten a good tune or a idea of what jets I should use to get a good idle? Current Mods: Ebay performance blue cdi Uni filter 12g roller weights Koso clutch 1500 main spring and clutch springs 120 main jet in Stock carb. This is a 30mm Carb on a Otherwise Stock 150? Stock Exhaust?

so my scooter ( taotao50cc) has been having problems starting up ( needing to give it gas o and off till it turns on ), one day it seemed like it died, i charged the battery using a walmart $80 self detecting charger and it would work all the time and turn on. This time it did the same thing, and so i went on charging it. but when i put back the battery Wrong and start it up i noticed smoked by the headlights and kinda by the engine area. what can i do ? whats gone wrong? should i try to charge the battery and give it a other go? p.s the battery was HOTT My bad

Hi, hate to bug you on stupid stuff but these are my 1st Mopeds. The Spree has been put away for the winter but I am still having fun with the Express. It is a 1980 Express which makes it 35 years old. Try finding tires for that. A place in Manitowoc, WI ( next door to me) can get me 2 tires but the back one will be 275-14 instead of the 225-14 I have on there now. I am concerned that the 275 will be to big and possibly rub on my fender well. Or cause performance problems.
I looked on the Tire Calc. link but could only find for radial tires not Mopeds.
Any suggestions, concerns and thoughts greatly appreciated.....ppat
Holly snit you got a Buick GSX Married?

Oh the Express is Cool! It brought me back. I remember consumers running outboard oil in them and clogging up the Exhaust port. Thats really neat and in great shape Thanks. I love it also. Tomorrow it goes to get the tires on it. I will ask about the 275 but looks as if I will have to put those on. I can not do the work myself and they charge more if I bring in my own tires. So I will have 225-14 4pr on front and 275-14 4pr on back. Better not screw up my performance. The Spree had power and umph until I put tires on it. Now I have to push off with my foot to get going. ppat No thank you, i just had not seen one since late 79 early 80. And what's the Hot Rod hiding behind? Hurst Old's? BB Buick?
