Simplifying the vacuum system on these small engines can make a large difference in performance as well. Mostly In the way of fuel delivery since these systems don't have much vacuum pressure to begin with.

I had to go through the same process with my cy50-a sport(taotao VIP). I noticed that I had way too much air/not enough fuel running through it. I also removed the petcock and apted for a manual shut off from good ole' Briggs and his friend Stratton. Haven't had a problem since I evened the two out. I do use an emgo uni air filter and originally a #90 (until I ran sea foam through it). I ended up using an 87.5 and haven't had a lick of hesitation since.

Also, I have heard that problems like what you've described can stem from an improper float level in the Carb. Not quite sure how to adjust it though. (I read a lot and fiddle with my 50cc, that's about it)

Also, consider scrapping the pair(sp) system. I got rid of it on my cy50-a and it immediately ran smoother and a bit stronger.

rugged I have heard of people using ignition coils off of old fords( the one with only 2 leads) to botch together a coil on boot style ignition setup. And as I understand it they work about as good as the ones designed specifically for scoots. All it takes is a little southern ingenuity and a little time at the junkyard. If you're concerned about performance, just don't forget to keep the beast cool. Beasts hate heat.

Well, using my extensive knowledge (Google, not scooter) I have deduced that there is no difference at all. From what several sites say, they are simply direct replacements for each other. I will try to get one and see if there actually is a difference, but I've even heard of people using car spark plugs in their scoots as well as other ignition parts. I guess a spark is a spark?

You could try for a smaller main jet or unrestricting your airbox.

There is always the option of an in-line manual cut off valve to keep that from happening in the future.

My cy50-a did the same thing until I removed the fuel petcock and installed a manual cut off (Briggs and straton). Turned out my petcock was worn out. Its a cheap and simple trick, just make sure you cap the vacuum line that's connected to it if you decide to try it.

I have a 2012 50cc VIP. The starter went bad after just a few months and I had to replace it. After that it worked lime a champ.
