I just thought I'd update a bit... Ive now got a new 8ah 120 CCA battery in there, repaired some wiring, hooked up the rectifier, checked voltage at the far side of the fuse (Is good. Still don't have my blade style holder yet but, probably tomorrow), found Alleyoops post about the fuel gauge fixes (Stuck a wire in the tank and moved the float up and down, fuel gauge is good so, I need to either run out or let out some fuel and pull the sending unit to have a look if it's contacts are worn or just stuck )and I replaced the spark plug with a new "CR7HSA". Next, I'll adjust the valves and the idle, change the gear and engine oil (In the Southern Cali. coastal area it seems that, 10-40w will be okay?). I fired it up today, and it SOUNDS like the valves need adjusting, yup! A few bulbs need replacing but, all the switches are working for now, they are a bit brittle from the sun. I also have to register it this week so, I haven't taken it in to get air into the tire. I may do the "Ratchet strap" trick to compress the bead against the rim to get some air into it for now. I want to thank you all again for all your help and warm welcomes!

Ha! Yes, I'm doing things in between arrival of parts too. Cleaning up some rusty parts with naval jelly and a wire brush ,prepping panels for paint, shopping etc; I have some "shade tree" experience with cars so, no big fears about jumping in. Yet I try to have a healthy respect for not assuming too much. Agreed, I'm pretty confident that Alleyoop knows what he is talking about . Heck, he could even tell me what each wire was for. Although kind, the vendor did not seem as confident in knowledge about the part . Thank you, John. That's good to know! You could be doing something on your site right now but you should know that it won't load either by clicking below , nor by a search engine link. :/

On another note, a tiny success, re-wiring the nearby melted wires without the melted connector that the rectifier took with it on its way out, lol! I didn't have a connector so I made due with some singles and some heat shrink. Thank goodness, there is enough room where they live to get this bunch back in there. The bike is all apart right now. I had to get under the speedometer compartment to see what was going on in there, too. The connectors in back of the switches are very brittle. Also, the front brake master cylinder assembly, along with the front brake-line will likely need replacing. It seems , water may have gotten in there and turned brake fluid into a vaseline like consistency. Boy, I bought some neglected stuffs, alright!

Well, at any vendor, there are several that say that they are for the Jonway 150T-2 GY6. But they list by PIN count and color combination and specify on this one, specify that it is for " Gy6 150cc Voltage Regulator Rectifier (2 plugs, 3-pin each) for 152QMI 157QMJ" and the number of pins per side and colors do match up. My engine is a 157QMJ however, the difference worries me . That's why I ask if someone here has particular knowledge. I am awaiting a reply from the vendor.

Oh brother ! So, I received the rectifier just now. And yes, the colors of the wires match but, the orientation of them into the rectifier , doesn't. On the old one (So fried) the wires entered the body of the rectifier at different positions than the new one. Yet, the wire positions by color DO enter their connectors corespondent to the old connector. Is anyone sure if I should worry? Also, I've been looking at tires for the rear . I'm not sure if the tires that are on there are correct but , they are both "4.00 x 12" front and rear. Yet, when I look at tires, many of them have different criteria for sizing in their listings, for example , here Pirelli tire link . I'm tellin ya, buying this generic brand scooter sure has made each step confusing but, I'm grateful to you all for helping me along !

The fuse is good. It looks factory original. When the battery and rectifier get here in a couple of days, I'll check for voltage.

Thank you both! I certainly would not put it past my neighbor to have tried that, jumping it with his auto. It is exactly what I suspect happened too. I know just enough to get myself into the mess, Cyborg Alleyoop, I appreciate so much, your annotated illustrations, thank you! I have a multi meter. Can do! Looks like I'll be splicing some wires together temporarily, it fried a connector that lives next to it and damaged some of the wires. That ought to take care of some problems before I ever have to experience them I ordered the ebay rectifier that I found with all the same wire colors and indications Rectifier for 157qmj
