www.jmstar.com/download/owner's%20manual/BMS50.pdf If all jmstar's are the same, this manual says to completely close the throttle and use either brake. Maybe there is a safety on the throttle. 2. Completely close the throttle grip. 3. Apply either brake and push the start switch to start the engine.

I'm new to these too. I like your post! My first bike was a Honda 90, my last was a Harley Tour Glide! Some jap stuff in between. Couldn't ride the Harley anymore due to health issues, so I sold it and got a CF Moto, chinese clone of a Honda Helix. So far so good. Good luck with it.

I'm a newbie to these little scooters, but for me 43,000 on a little 250cc sounds like a lot, but that's a nice looking scooter. I paid $1300 for a chinese copy of the Honda Helix, 2005 with 2100 showing on the odometer. I've put 400 trouble free miles, runs great. Good luck!

I've looked at backrests from other bikes, but none are wide enough. The seat pan on mine is 13" wide where I need to mount it.

It was in a vice, pulled with one hand. My back is in serious trouble right now. My doctor has ignored me for 10 years, and now it's finished. Trying some physical therapy, but I know darn well it's going to require surgery. As for the rod, Home Depot only has 36" rods, not long enough. Now I'm thinking a two piece frame.

Got the pad today, went to Homedepot and got a 3/8" rod, and pulled my back out on the first bend! Tomorrow I'll probably go to the ER, project on hold....

Great idea? Sounds comfy. I have the "Voyager", which is baffling. I don't see where CF Moto made a "voyager", the only "Voyager 250: is SYN, and it is definitely not a SYN. It's an odd ball. But it does have the "tour-pak". I'll consider that. I don't have passengers so that doesn't matter, my fat butt is enough for this little bike!

I'm lost when it comes to electronics. So does that mean the g/r spliced into the g/y would bi-pass that switch, or would it start fires and burn the thing to the ground?

Well, I pulled the service panel. I have a plug, second from the right, with all those wires mentioned in the post except the g/y, the g/y does not go to the plug, it just goes straight to the harness. The g/r is in the plug. Not sure if I want to risk it without a wiring diagram. Can't ride it anyway, my back is shot.

Poor design decision. At least with the can-am you don't need to balance the thing while you put your foot on the brake. That's been the whole thing, I don't mind the kick stand being up, but to have to balance it with my left foot while I press on the brake with my right foot, that right there introduces other problems. Just plain stupid I tell ya. Harley Davidson always baffled me on some of their design decisions, and I guess it wasn't limited to HD.

Yes, foot brake. I don't mind the kick stand needing to be up, it's just having to have the kick stand up AND the rear brake peddle down for it to start. That's really stupid, why not the front brake? If it was just the Chinese that did it, I would understand, but the Japs did it that way and the Chinese copied it to the letter.

I've ordered a backrest pad. I'm going to build the framework and mount it to the rear bolts of the passenger hand rails. I saw this done during my google searches, looks like an easy and effective solution for about $20.

If you want to bypass it here is how to do it: To disable follow the wire from the sidestand up the frame to the first plug in line. It may be near the battery and frame, Unplug it and fuse the two wires together on the hot side. Hot side= battery side of (plug) wiring. Alleyoop Will this disable the back brake switch too?
