You can't start it with the side stand down for safety reasons. You can disable that "feature".

Adjusted the float today. Perfect! Well, as perfect as a gauge can be. I'm a happy camper

Found a used sender in town, $20! Highway robbery. I just put the float on mine because the senders were a little different. It floats. Now I just need to do a little adjustment to get it to reflect actual fuel level. Never thought finding a float would be so difficult.

That's what I'm thinking, even cork if I can find a suitable sealer. I'll stop at the auto parts store today and see what I can dig up.

None of the pics I've seen of fuel level senders looks like mine. I'm sure I could make one work as long it fits the hole right. I'll send these guys a request and see if they have one. www.partsforscooters.com/

I figure I'll drill a couple holes to drain it and seal the holes and the ends with gas proof sealant, they should have that crap at an auto parts store, right?

Ok, the float floats in water, sinks in gas. Guess I had a lesson in buoyancy. Anyway to revitalize my water-logged float?

There is a rubber seal between the sender and the tank, no contact. The snder works when it's in the tank, it's just showing reserve. Once in a while it will read one notch above, but goes back down. I am totally convinced the sender is working properly, I just have to figure out how to feed it in there. There is a tube running lengthwise in the tank, not sure of the purpose, maybe to prevent splash, but I'm thinking I feed the float in to the wrong side of it. I need to look up the sender online and see if it's the right one, I'm sure it is but I want to verify.

My fuel gauge hasn't worked since I got this. Yesterday I removed the sensor, and it works find and the level reader in the dash works fine. But as soon as I install it in the tank, it reads empty. I took it out time and time again, works fine, but in the tank, not. Checked the float, float floats like it should. Something is obstructing the float in the tank. I swung the unit back and forth from one side to the other and left in in the middle of the swing. I have half a tank, and at least now it reads one notch above empty. I'll take it out today and fill it and see what happens. But is there a trick to this? There doesn't appear to be any indicator as to where it in supposed to be positioned. I'm glad everything works, I just need it to do it's job.

The last couple days it has been smooth, even at walking speed. The humidity here is through the roof with tropical storm Colin moving through. I'm thinking the humidity is acting as a lubricant just enough. That's all I can figure, nothing else has changed.

At low speed my scooter kicks like a mule. It doesn't have to be under load, just creeping along at 5mph it will kick and buck like crazy. No problems about 10 or 15 mph. I can't help but think something can be done to smooth it out. Alley (where is Alley, BTW?) said there was probably some glazing somewhere. I haven't looked at it yet, just wondering if anyone knows why it's doing that. Would a new belt solve the problem?

Success! Though you can access the limiter switch with just the left side disassembled, I could not get a clear view of what was going on, so I removed the right side and took out the complete center"hump". Just so happens, the connectors for w/gr and gr/r are male/female, so I just plugged the two together. It starts, but I had no brake light with the rear peddle. So I put everything back together and used a quick splice connector on the w/gr and gr/r. Now the scooter will start without pressing on the rear brake and I have brake lights. That procedure works perfectly as written.
