so basically the ncy performance variator sheeves are the only thing that does any thing? hopefully i can get a 60cc bore up soon might have to turn the stock head to fit the larger diameter jug and piston. if gain enough compression i might be able to port the exhaust side. are there any ways to make the engine quieter it seems to me more noise comes from the black than the pipe.
has any one dissected a stock pipe? I also devised a way to delete the retarded vacuum system, i use need to find an old school 80s or 90s carb and run the vacuum line form the intake to the petcock. i'm starting to think the vacuum system makes it less reliable, my scoot idles weird due to a small vacuum leak.
it also hurts acceleration because the vacuum runs the slide versus just a butter fly carb. what do you guys think about this theory?
EDIT: can any one tell me the "MM" of the side of the carb that goes in the rubber intake boot (not air cleaner boot) on the gy6 139qmb, i was gonna look at other carbs for the heck of it on ebay maybe i can learn something.

a friend of mine does some really good work on bikes told me they needs to be serviced at some point all of them i guess he was right. I just probably have enough miles, 02916/2 miles. i certainly have thought on 49cc perf upgrades. witch reminds me after i need to update my thread "faster" after this. there is crap ton of improvement you can do with out buying parts already. with a 35mph top speed base line witch is good starting point i believe 49cc perf upgrades are very underrated and ignored. i was thinking the after market variator cup would help the CVT ride the power band a bit better. if that makes any since? i was curious about this little bit too... i have friend with an identical scoot and it has a low rpm knock and it isn't the cvt or the likes www.enviromoto.ecrater.com/p/11515339/naraku-heavy-duty-16-tooth-gy6-50what i'm really curious about is weather it's higher quality and what the balance and weight is like but, i'd probably have to buy it my self to figure the balance and weight. EDIT: my dad went to local dealer to pick up a belt and the guy said he had never seen this size of belt on a 50 before. it is a 729 12.7 30, is this normal?

So i blew a belt today and after inspecting the damage there was crap ton of black powder, i'm guessing belt and clutch material witch seems semi normal from the 139qmbs that have ever looked at. there was also some drive belt fraying it looked like tender just few small dust bunny sizes about few cm in diameter not to dense. the belt lasted for some time a year or 2 so i'm not convinced i have one of those scoots that has that problem of them breaking to much. i was gonna open up the clutch area on the CVT a little bit i think it was this or scooter rebels that had some people whole sawing the bit of cover that goes over the clutch bell, i was gonna do something a bit similar but, not as big of a hole i was gonna do 2 smaller holes just encase of rain or road debree. actually i might describe it as cutting out 2 slots. i also wanted to know about this... enviromoto.ecrater.com/p/4703356/ncy-performance-variator-teflon-coatedi've been thinking about getting one for a while. are they snake oil like the hot rod CDIs and coils? i tried one of the scrappy dog scooters cams it made it run 10 whole mph slower but it gained 1k rpm on the top end. i also tried a CDI it didn't do crap it made things run worse stock and with the crumby cam. so i'm bit weary about some of these after market parts and was curious if any one know about this one. also on the front end, my forks is there any maintenance i need to do? is the black dust and small bits of frayed CTV belt normal? EDIT: Would this clutch bell help to keep things cooler specially with my slot mod enviromoto.ecrater.com/p/6055776/ncy-139qmb-gy6-50cc-performancei was also wondering about this would this be any more efficient then my current CVT? would it have a higher top end ratio. I'm maxing out my stock CVT on some of the down hills enviromoto.ecrater.com/p/6055029/ncy-139qmb-transmission-kit

I already know what a drop in crate engine can do. now i wanna kick it old school. I still get few benefits, a lighter engine and since it's a smaller bore in theory better efficiency like mpg, probably not much but, it's all gonna be in good fun and I will defiantly get more pictures. Thanks for the replies and understanding.

Well i got this scooter for a free after some drunk dude wrecked it after driving it cause he had a DUI (lol). My friend used to sell them and had this one in pieces in a trailer, we got to talking once and he said out of all the pallets he sold no 2 ran the same. Any who some times the best power is the power you make your self. My friend has so many hours in his zx12 engine, your head would spin. He once spent 23 hours straight in shop working on it. are you gonna to do an engine for 23 hours !?!?!? well he took 5 pounds of moving weight out of the engine, or was it mostly moving weight . Either way you can pull a Burt Monroe and balance and cut down and port and grind your own stuff and you just might surprised. Now i'm not gonna mold my own piston or any tihng. I think I'll order from JE for that. Um i was wondering if you had any success with any mods? Does any one know any good carbs? i was gonna ask on my minibike forums they know a lot about those Mikunis and Yoshimuras, I just don't want carb all that bigger than whats on it other wise you lose bottom end. So as far as the piston and compressions i got to thinking about this 44mm 60cc jug, www.scrappydogscooters.com/139QMB_50cc_Performance.htmlif you look at other kits, you need or it's said it's best matched with a performance head of the same CCs. So i was thinking there is a good chance the outer diameter of the piston could hit the outer edge or ring on the stock head witch would be bad but, is also good that means you can flare it out at the correct angle you need witch could help with the compression and or if you get a custom piston it can be cut to fit the ridge or if you have it flared already you could bring the dome out on the piston for better flame travel. So i guess I'm probably rambling more than any one cares to read?

So i finally did it. all those upgrades they advertise suck and rob power. The bigger carb is kind of pointless and as far as the CDI we couldn't give it a fair chance as supposedly they only work if your scooter is top notch, witch it wasn't running the hotter cam. The cheap Chinese quality control doesn't ensure the gear is pressed on right. Thats right the timing on these cams is probably wrong i lost power a really noticeable amount till i put the stock cam back in. (a whole 10 mph slower) So here is what went down, raised the the intake roof and deleted the valve guide then put 2 extra valve spring shims in and set the valve lash to 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 thousands. (pics to big, click for image, or copy and paste the URL) i.imgur.com/jLkBd.jpgi.imgur.com/tT1S1.jpgi.imgur.com/zDztv.jpgOn a GOOD down hill i can hit 50 mph and you can feel and hear the engine picking up RPMs, up to 9k after the CVT maxes out. Next up a 60cc jug and some other mods. may even delete all the vacuum BS on the carb and get a nice little 20 some mm carb that doesn't run a slide and is just the butterfly. For the cam a friend thinks he can set the cam timing correctly after he finds the lobe center and then we will give it another try. anyone know of any good cams before we try to fix the cheap after market one? remember this is a 50cc and i'm not going for a drop in 125 or 150 or anything. EDIT: How do these work and where does it tap in to? www.scooterdoc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=specials&action=display&thread=2724

wouldn't a higher CR piston be better? I run 11.5:1 on my 155cc Honda Trail 50 and it runs on 91 octane.

Well scrapy dogs doesn't really mention the lift witch is kinda wierd is guess. Also sssssaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy tell me more about this head and cam it wouldn't be the one they use the Jonway VIP scoots is it? More than likely it's probably a tooth off. 03 and 05 or close to. I think I might get the 60cc BBK and then a head for it that might make worth my while to pull the whole thing back apart again. This is the head i already have an intake and carb for it. www.scrappydogscooters.com/139QMB_50cc_Performance.htmlBasically all I'm really aiming for is a hotter small bore engine. Also sure the cam is on the crank cause we cranked it over by hank with my pulling on the chain mentioning it with my finger where the cam gear would go so to get it to tdc with out disturbing the cam potion. if that makes any scene to you. I also took the liberty to install a magnetic drain plug with some fresh oil when i buttoned it up the other night. Not super useful but, nice thing to have just in case.

i really hope it isn't that, i remember double and tipple checking 2 small holes in line the with the head and the big straight out all while the TDC to the T on the fly wheel. if it's honestly not something simple i'd rather wait till I get a BBK to mess with it. speaking of witch does any one know of a quite performance pipe? i was thinking of welding on a bigger header to the stock pipe.

well it got it all back together and going turns out one of the pins on the CDI plug had back out so i got my spark back. also put the stock carb back on but, left the A9 cam and CDI in it runs 10 mph slower doesn't want to start or idle and runs hell fast on a big down hill and like crap on the on hills and flats. I thought i might start by checking for an intake leak thought i might spray some sealer on the intake gasket and see if that makes difference.

oh well then in that case a 60cc with a perf. head would help, infact probably a little more than that small boost i was looking for. Pistons make big difference too and so do heads. I had and still have 4hp Tecumseh yeah old school man American mini bike type Tecumseh.
i spent hours trying to get it to run finally my dad and i tracked it down to that valve seats. So we gave it a slight port job and and lapped the valves, i also built the carb out of hand full incomplete carbs and even did little drilling on the air horn. finally got it running and rather healthy at that. At some point I got in contact with long time machinist friend who milled the head 40 thousandths, that with all the other mods made a BIG difference.
my machinist friend said that I would be surprised what you can to and engine with pure machining and metal work. Now I'm not so surprised i bet i could go back and do even more thing to that engine like lighten the fly wheel witch is one mod i know i'd like to do to my scoot.
sure 3 three small mods won't make big difference but after a while the mods will add together if keep adding them on so to speak. you know in the 1960's companies like Honda had 2 stroke twin cylinder 50cc 16 speed race bikes that had some serious top end, of course that was all in the engineering not mods but, boy it sure does make you think and wonder.
Any who big inspirational speech aside I actually need to get mine running first. I'd like to see if it's fuel issue by spraying something in the carb and see if it fires. Also on a side note how do i know what weight my stock variator weights are?

yup that's how i have it it's getting spark but, not running i'll try the stock again some other day i'm kinda wore out and feel cheated and let down. having learned non of it really adds any power. i left ebay seller a message apparently he had with a 100cc bore kit but, was too retarded to mention so also he isn't the only one some people not on ebay are selling the 24s as oem replacements. also sometime during the tear down last night the little clip in the spark plug holder fell out so it doesn't "click" when you slide it on witch isn't helping things.
I feel kinda bummed out today nothing really worked or went the way it should have.
EDIT i also put a cam in we checked TDC of the crank and cam so i really hope thats not the problem boy would that be a PITA

i got an A9 cam and cdi and carb hoping to give it more pep then i was gonna go over to the trans for top speeds, when ALL said and done i wanted perf head a 60cc jug a trans kit and bigger carb. thanks for the note on the carb i'm gonna see if i can't finnish hooking it up.
So if non of this will give it more power or make it go fast what does other than rollers witch i think is a load i think after market variator and rollers would help but, only with more power? Can you at least give me a low down?
also the thing your speaking of on the carb is built in to the side of the throttle body not the pump up top under the alloy cover right?

So i guess the 24mm carb i bought for my 139qmb won't even run? i bought it used from an ebay seller who had it on their 50cc, i cam back through the scooters forums looking fora particular thread with a similar issue i'm having during install witch are the extra hoses since the new carb a 24mm run tong carb uses vacuum.
