I checked a whole bunch of Linhai CDI's and most have 8 plugs in them. I knew it wasn't the same as mine which has 2 and 4 and one blank in the 4 set. After talking with Absolutely Scooters on the phone he determined I need the same CDI as the CF Moto. Not all Roketa 54B's are exactly the same with the Linhai engine.

Hey Alley the one made for the ATV sounds awesome. Which model did you actually purchase? Was it an easy install?
Thanks

I see a lot of ads for the CF Moto CDI, but none for the Linhai engine. Are they both the same?

I learned no stupid questions. It is slow to fluctuate, but it only does it between the 1/4 mark and 1/2 mark. I checked the wires going to the temp gauge and they are screwed on and tight. This is new as it always slowly heated up and just passed the half way mark the fan would come on. I'll check out the boot tomorrow.

Looking at the pictures in any event you don't have many miles left on them. I would get rid of them ASAP. The second picture shows a groove which is worn down in the middle of that grove. Doesn't look safe to me.

I believe I have a loose connection to the temp gauge. It will move from the 1/4 position to the 1/2 position and down to the 1/4 and back to the half. There is not an issue with coolant or with the fan. The fan still goes on and off.
I had the windshield off and the cover under it to change out the running lights. I might have pulled a connector loose in the process. Just trying to find out what color wire or wires goes to the temp gauge. This up and down started after changing out the running lights.
Thanks

Hey, I was right on something. 3 cheers. Cruiser is right if the carb has dried out. I just changed my fuel pump and fuel line from 3/16 to a 1/4" and used the drain screw to remove the gas from the carb. Once I hooked up the new line it took quite a few turns to pump up enough gas to start it. Actually it almost drained my fully charged battery before it finally started.

He says it cranks so it can't be the kill switch. I would first check for spark. Remove the plug ground it to a piece of metal and turn it over. If you get a blue spark, then it could be a fuel issue. My 2 cents.

Alley, Yes there are 4 screws which hold on that cover. After taking off the CVT cover once again, I see no reason not to keep using it. The problem is the cheap Dr Pulley U slides they are selling now. When I purchased my first set of sliders for the 54B they came with 4 thick U slides. I must have caused one of the sliders to move before installing and that caused all the U slides and sliders to self destruct. Ordered new set of sliders and found out Dr Pulley now sells the U slides separately. So I purchased two sets of U slides just in case I needed them. That was a over a 1000 miles ago. This morning after removing the cover and variator, and dust cover I guess it's called I noticed that all 4 U slides were broken. For some reason there was no damage to the sliders except for a minor scratch on one of them. Maybe because I heard that clank noise and it was not picking up speed fast I knew there was something wrong in there. Well it's back together again, but for how long I have no idea. These new U slides are thin and not the same as the ones they use to ship along with new sliders. The Dr Pulley sliders for the GY 6 are twice as thick as these. Below is a picture of one of the old U slides with 2 of the new ones stacked on top of each other.

Besides all the other crap with this scooter it seems that the variator is starting to clank. I already because of mistakes replaced two sets of Dr Pulley sliders. When putting the variator on with the grease cover it makes it impossible to hold the sliders in place while putting on the variator.
Is it necessary or can I take it off and install the sliders like one would do with a GY 6 variator?

Wife is on a trip and she took the camera. As soon as she gets back I will take pictures of vacuum lines.

It has worked for me this morning and again tonight. The scooter sat from 9:30 till 7 tonight and again I turned the key to the on position and waited a min and off she went on the first try. I have no idea as to why, but it sure is less aggravating. Maybe something does warm up with the key on. If it starts tomorrow morning doing the same thing then it's 3 for 3 and that hasn't happened in months.

Amazing turn of event. This morning after the scoot sat for 14 hours I was ready for the hard starting. I turned key to start position and realized I left cell phone in house. Came back out put helmet on and hit starter button. Amazingly it started right up. I was totally amazed. Gave it a minute to warm up and I was on my way.
Any thoughts?

Gary, you said "I ended up putting the original fuel pump back on and rerouting my fuel and vacuum lines and using a single vacuum port on the carb that goes to the fuel pump. Now it starts first time, everytime". You do have a 54B correct? So you ran the vacuum port which is fixed on the carb directly to the fuel pump? Wouldn't it be better to run it from the intake manifold directly to the fuel pump?
