Reply #2 us Yankees up north had coal and steel, much higher paying jobs, workers rights, and the best schools. Sounds better then living in the hot humid summers with no AC. Now us Yankees can retire sell our high priced homes move south since they now have AC. Pay cash for a home and collect a real retirement check.

I live in a no helmet reqiuired state, but I always have one on. I would say only 10% of the riders in SC wear a helmet. A 5 mph crash or fall hitting your head can kill you so why chance it?

Nice looking ride Rich and really brand new. If I owned it I would find a spot in my garage and not ride.

Glad I was able to read your post and tell you what I paid before they had shipped it out with the higher shipping cost. I have this intersection where 99% of the cars turn left and I want to go straight. Well before the magnet I just waited for another car to come behind me or made a right and then turned around. Now the left signal goes green then I get the green light so I can go straight. That is one long light to begin with and having to wait until a car comes behind me was not fun especially in the hot summer.

USMARINE I feel your pain. I know you spent hours trying to resolve this issue but to no avail. Is your plug OK? A fouled plug will act up at higher speeds. Also what about the coil and cdi?
My wife is a lot like yours. She just can't imagine all the time I spend in the garage because of the scoot.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to take pictures, as it may screw up my memory card on the camera. I have a Roketa 250 54B model and under the main frame is a plastic cover. I mounted the magnet there about 3" from the front of the panel. First cleaning off the area with alcohol, then using the 3M tape. I cut (2) 1/2"x 2" of the tape and applied them to the magnet. Removed the red side of the tape and pressed the magnet tight against the bottom of plastic. Since the magnet has a north and south pole it doesn't matter which side is down. Mine is mounted parallel, but I'm sure it can be mounted perpendicular as well.

:) Well after weeks of testing several magnets I can say that this one works. www.magnet4less.com/product_info.php?cPath=1_123&products_id=835It has tripped sensors other magnets have not. The first magnet I had was called the Green Light Trigger HP and it didn't work on 5 loop sensors I tried it on. I believe it had a 6lb pull to it and that is simply not enough for a 250 54B scooter. Maybe if it was lower to the ground it might work on some traffic lights. I returned the Green Light Trigger back to Helmet Head and I'm still waiting for my refund. The second set of magnets were 3 small magnets with an 8lb pull each. I stacked them up together and it would trip a few lights but not the ones I run into on my way to work. The 3rd try was a charm. The magnet I recommend has a 58lb pull to it and that extra pull means a lot. Testing it has been an adventure to the point as where I needed to go out at night to make sure I was the only vehicle waiting to make a left hand turn or going straight. At each of the 6 lights I tested the magnet tripped the sensor at 5 lights. I called the highway dept and told them that they need to check that light and adjust the sensitivity so a scooter with a magnet can trip the light. The magnet is weather proof and after exchanging emails with the company they recommended I install the magnet at least a foot away from the engine as it could change the timing. I used 3M double sided body molding tape and mounted it just past the front wheel on the plastic. Don't let the $4.95 price fool you. They charged me an additional $9.00 for shipping and $5.00 because it was a single item purchase. Use caution while installing as it will find any piece of steel and jump to it.

reply 101 Check with a Lowes or Home Depot. Take one of the good bolts there and use their screw or bolt finder which are mounted on the walls.

Alley those town speed checkers must use radar as they are very accurate. Before I had a scooter my car showed the same speed as the checkers did. As soon as you go over the speed limit they blink the mph you are going.

I just may have the most accurate speedometer on a 54B. I have checked it with my GPS along with our towns speed checkers which they setup on various roads.

Pop I'm not sure what size bolt you need on the valve cover but you can take one of the others out and take it to a hardware store. They can match it. Next someone here needs to explain how to remove the broken bolt then you can replace the adjusting nut assembly.
You need to relax and take your time with each fix. You are very close so don't give up now.

Pop I have the same scooter and at 2000 rpm's the rear tire does not spin. I think you have 1600 miles on it and I have just turned 1500 on mine. If you are going to adjust your valves then you will need a 19mm socket to turn the variator. I know you lost most of your antifreeze thinking you were removing the value cover. Have you flushed the entire system out and then added a 50/50 Prestone mix? Another thing have you checked and or changed all of your fuel lines and vacuum lines. It looks like the previous owner did nothing before he sold it to you. A small hole in the vacuum line is going to give you hard starting problems.
Taking the cvt cover off requires you to remove the bottom plastic panel, removing a few screws which hold on the air filter, and then removing about 10 bolts which are 8mm in size.
Get some plastic bags and as you remove a part put them in a bag and label it. Take a camera and snap pictures so you can refer to them when putting parts back on.
My scoot will idle smooth from 1800- 2000 rpm's and not spin the back tire when on the center stand. If your scooter is spinning the back tire at 2000 rpms then you do need to remove the cvt and find out why the clutch is engaging at that speed. Mine will engage the rear wheel at about 2800 rpms.
To be honest with you, I'm not sure if you have a Roketa 54B or another model, nor am I sure what you have done with the PDI. I know this is all Greek to you, and most of it is all Greek to me as well.
Alley is right about you having a fuel delivery problem. Have you changed the gas filter? Check all the vacuum lines. I don't think you have any fuel leaks as you would smell gas and worse case set the scoot on fire.
