Got teh kit and it looks to be waaay better quality than the old one. Installed, it and it fired right up but was leaking oil like crazy. Took ht back off, made a new gasket and still leaking. Taking a break now from working on it.

Doug, I can't remember who your manufacturer was on your 59mm kit. Mine was NCY, and you saw the pics of my cylinder. I did not notice any "whirring" sounds or similar before the metalic clacking, but I hope that is not what yours is.

From one who did a very similar mod, yours looks freakin sweet!!! I cut out the grill, but epoxied in a piece of window screen because I did not want big stuff being sucked in. I have fished out a couple of bees, and at least one small rock so it was definately worth it.

I think the 32mm is a typo.

those clips are 100% necessary! Of course not having them is a good reason to give to the Mrs. to need a new variator, but you can just buy a set of the clips.

Also, have you asked the mechanic who installed it to do a compression test? Maybe Rick at Scrappydog has some suggestions. He is always great about answering emails in very quick fashion and has good suggestions.

OK, I still cannot find a mechanical reason for this failure. Thinking just got a bad one.

ditto to Bashan. Harbor Freight has a Compression tester kit for pretty cheap (I think I paid like $30) that has the correct 10mm adapter with it.

Or just go with 6 13's straight. I am starting to wonder if the mixing is really that effective so I am installing sliders this week, and going with 6 10g rather than mixing to get a total of 10g equivalent.

Unless you get their 59mm BB kit as well as the large valve head, it will do nothing for you. That huge carb will alow lots of air and fuel, but your stock head intake only has a 24 or 26mm opening and your cylinder/combustion chamber cannot use it all. Other than that, it looks like a great piece of gear. Scrappydog is great to work with, service and prices are always good.
