Today I took two steps forward and one step back. I went in and started the engine but it sounded horrible. I decided to take the engine down and see what the problem was and to double check the timing yet again. After a complete tear down and rebuild there is ZERO evidence of kick back or any other noises that were out of place. Now the engine sounds great BUT I have lost spark. I have traced wires, changed out the trigger and I am lost. I keep hear something about a R/R on this bike from others. What is it and where do I find it? OH I figured I had a spark issue and where the woodruff key mated with the flywheel, broke and left the crank spinning and flywheel stationary. I am confused.

I had to splice the wires, I wished it was a plug and play thing. I went to Harbor Freight tonight and got new connecters and some heat shrink so I can make sure all the connections are right and pretty. I was smelling some fuel so I think it is getting fuel. I did not try the tape route but I did go by the K&N oil for the filter and that helped quite a bit. Oh and BTW I did get the stock CDI and it did not stop the kick back.

Well Alley today I did not get the chance to write those boring papers I wanted to write but what I did do was go work on the scoot and the progress was astounding.
I was about to get the scooter running and it ran pretty damn good. It took a few minutes before it would idle on its own but it eventually did. I was able to ride it BUT there were gremlins in the scooter. The problem was when I get the throttle to about 1/4 to 1/2 way open. The engine sputtered as if the coil was cutting out. It would run, cut back, pick up, cut back. It did this for a for the afternoon. The scooter would not charge the battery either. This is a brand new stator and everything and I am a little baffled about that. Oh and before I closed shop for the evening the clutch assembly came apart. But I fixed that issue and now tomorrow I have to work on the sputtering issue. For a coil I am using the NCY direct ignition thingy.
Thanks Alley!!!!

No I do not have any oil on the filter. Where do I find some to put on it? I am definitely going to take care of this on Friday. I wish I had time to do it tomorrow but there is no time.

Here is a quick progress report. I attempted to start the scoot today and failed. I had to go to class tonight and upon getting home, I went out and gave it the ole college try. I was about to get it running but not well at all. I began this morning by resetting the idle screw and the A?F screw back to closed and turned the A/F screw to 2 - 3 turns. When trying to crank it, nothing happened at that. I ended up turning it another 1.5 - 2 turns before it would even attempt to crank. I have a busy day of writing a few papers and other class work to do tomorrow so I am gonna take a day. I have a stock CDI coming and a Universal Parts CDI coming as well and I will install those on Friday. I also believe from the short ride I was able to do tonight with a little throttle always open that the valves may be a bit to open. We shall see of Friday. If you have any suggestions between now and then I am always open. Alley once again Thank you. I appreciate all you advice and help!!!

I think about 4 to 6 times. I took it in all the way and then turned it until the engine acted as if it wanted to start. Then I turned it about 1/4 turn until I could get it it to run smooth with it idling but could never get that so I held the throttle while it was very close to idling. If I take it back in to it will not turn anymore, about how many times should I turn it until I start to follow your directions above?

In order to get the engine to run, I have to keep some throttle to keep the fuel flowing. If not it will not idle on its own.

Alley, I had the Idle screw all the way down to try and get it to idle and it would not. There was still to much slack in the cable. I do not have an image of the carb here at home but here is one I got off of scrappy dog.

Progress Report:
I turned the A/F screw on the 30mm carb as Alley suggested and installed the carb. I turned the screw as I cranked the engine over and I eventually got it running with the 30mm carb. There is one major issue now. After installing the carb I see there isn't enough tension on the cable to keep it idling, I have adjusted the cable and placed it in several di9fferent positions but the cable still will not tighten up. As of right now the cable is in the last hole possible and the top mounting hle for the cable with the nuts to tighten the cable to the carb all the way on the ends. Any suggestions?
BTW: Alley you are the man, Thank you for all of your help!!

By chance Alley have you gotten the CDI in yet? I am anxiously awaiting the review of this item?
