Alley: I order the crank on Friday and if that does not get it I am gonna try something else. I had been looking at the project the wrong way for quite some time and I have not been able to complete for one major reason. Although I approached it as though I were going to finish, I never put it totally back together as if it were finished. Meaning that meany times I left the job half complete because I expected problems. As a Masters Psychologist candidate, I should have known better. It is often times easy to counsel others on their issues than to look at ones own.
I am having the crank shipped overnight from Walter Friday and first thing Monday morning it will be at the machine shop being worked on. The who runs it is a friend of a friend and says he is not booked up so he will be able to get it it that day or the next day.
Right now I have a 63mm BBk and I am going back with a 4mm crank. I have sen gear kits like at scooter elements which I believe is 13/43. Since I have to get a gear pulled I figured I may as well get them to put a gear pressed on.
Also what are your thoughts on the Mikuni High Flow Vacuum Fuel Pump?

I am into changing the final drive gear on the ole scooter, what is everyone running that isn't stock and what is a good ratio to have.

Here is my hypothesis:
The very last time I had the engine running and the flywheel and woodruff key incident occurred, I have been having issues with the woodruff key fitting into this crank shaft, even the key for the starter clutch does not fit tight enough for me not to use my finger to hold it in place while I am sliding it into place. Now when I put the key into place, the flywheel tends to "slip" on the crank. I hypothesize this crank is not bad but the woodruff key slots were to big from the beginning. It only fired right with the larger woodruff key and we see where that got me. SO I am ordering a new crank this week and will be making a trip to the machine shop to have the piston shaved. I have two options, I am thinking about either a +4mm crank from Walter at Scooter Elements or a Taida 3500 Crankshaft. Thanks Guys!

I have tried to use the gear puller from Harbor Freight will no luck. What other pullers will work to get the kick start gear off of the crank?

I have the engine complete and ready to run. I had been having some issues with the stator so I replaced it after I had an issue with one of the wires being a little scorched. During cranking with all the grounds checked and double checked, I am not getting any voltage at all to the coil and or to the trigger wire. The pic above is the new stator and pickup. It looks installed correctly.

How can one account for there being 0.00 volts at the coil and 0.00 volts coning out of the trigger wire to the CDI, when you have a new stator and a new flywheel? I am so baffled that I do not know what to say, think, and or do!!!! I am ready to drop a grenade on this bike!

I had to rewire it and everything was fine. I had the engine running yesterday afternoon and I noticed a weird noise, once I tracked it down it was the flywheel. From that point to present I have not been able to start it. I have checked and triple checked all the connections and yes my wiring looks like the images you posed. I am using the NCY direct fire coil and it has a boot on it like a car and you can hear the spark plug as it is held in place. I will check the voltage to the coil tomorrow. But I do not believe that it is getting any power.

Alley, I have checked and rechecked all of that. I have two grounds going to the valve cover, I checked the continuity on all the wires going to and from the CDI and stator. When putting a spare plug into the boot, nothing. Voltage on the red/black wire from the stator was in the neighborhood of 35-40 volts. I have gotten the stock CDI, NCY CDI, Universal Part CDI, and the Performance CDI from scrap dog, and no response on any of these units. I am getting fuel because I can smell that. Just no spark.
The engine does sound nice huh! I am not sure what the problem was but I do believe that part of the build is solved!!! And it does not matter which CDI is installed it does not bind at all!

Also I know that the factory woodruff key is 4x4x13.8. I have had a difficult time putting that key into the slot. I am wondering if there is a key that is bigger to fit that slot properly. The crank did not come with any.

Alright guys no change today and I have done everything I know to do and still not spark. I am at a loss and I am tired. Here are a few pics to try and give some reference as to what the problem might be. Here are the pics of the stator that you requested Alley Here is how the old Magneto looked after it snapped at the woodruff key. There is a huge crack in it. Video: s1244.beta.photobucket.com/user/A1WABBIT/media/Engine%202/M2U00116_zps49faea2e.mp4.htmlI am not sure what happened. I do not know if the snapping of the flywheel caused the stator to go bad. I do not know. I have checked all the wiring, still nothing! Thanks in Advance!

Yeah I did put on a new (Different) flywheel and tried a different pick up coil. I will take pics in the morning. This is so odd. I thought I had this all figured out. Neither of those worked but it had gotten late and I did not have time to finish up properly. But will post pics a.s.a.p.
Thanks Guys!!

The flywheel was toast and I put on a new one that I had been saving. I think the scooter is not working because my family thinks that I am placing my life i danger by riding this and they are not willing to help me do anything to fix it. I have been doing this project on my own and trying to learn as much as I could along the way. I am determined though and it will run and I will ride.
I bought some wood ruff keys from parts4scootes and they fit a little loose in the groove. Even with a little tap. I bought a woodruff key set from Harbor Freight and none of those will fit at all. As far as the reftitier goes will that keep the engine from producing spark or should I price a new stator, flywheel and R/R?
