I am considering getting a second engine for my Tao Tao GY6 150cc. I am having one problem after another and I am beginning to feel like when I had my MG, I had to have one to drive and one to work on until the other one broke. Scrap dog sells a GY6-200 complete performance engine, is this engine a viable replacement for my stock engine? While I get my stock one straight of is ther a better engine out there for the 499$ price.

What is a good performance weight for the Variator weights. I ordered a Variator from Scrapdogg and order 13oz weights. I want top end speed vs. low end.

No a guide the first. LOL, I even looked to see if there were remnants of chewed up guides and there was nothing. I asked my dad to make sure I was not wrong and he said there were no guides.

Since I have gotten pretty good at taking the cover and everything apart and checking to see what the problem is/was, I took the variator back down and I did not find any plastic guides at all! I didn't see them yesterday and I am now very confused as to why they were never there. I am beginning to wonder if it were designed that way to end up breaking after a little bit of time.
I misspoke yesterday and there are 6 weights.
The knocking has gone away, the bogging down as well, but now the slipping is back just not as bad. While the cover was off i watched the clutch and the variator and they both move as they are supposed to. Would a new variator work better or just could it be the lack of guides that are affecting this problem.

When I say slipping I mean it will act as if a car that is low on tranny fluid acts. I can give the scooter gas and the engine revs and them it will increase in speed, but up until then its dead in the water just reving.
I took of the Variator for inspection and one of the weights fell out when I took it off, the other stayed in place. Reinstalled it and now the slipping problem is gone BUT a new issue has began. In the area of the Variator I hear a pecking or rattling sound as if the weight is not "seating" correctly in the slot. I am going to assume it is the one that was loose. Also when I do try and ride it, it bogs down until the RPM'S come up. Do I have the nut to tight on the variator?

Alright I think it is the Variator, when I changed the bet nothing moved. I did not have to push the plate back or anything of the such. I saw another video were a guy put a piece of cardboard in place of the belt in the variator and then replaced the belt, on mine it did not happen. Alright so in terms of Variators, what kind do I get?

The problem persists
Alright I ordered and received and installed a NCY racing clutch and new belt. Its still slipping very badly. At my wits end, I did not order a new bell cuz this one only has 903 miles on it (bought the scooter new). What do you think the problem is?

Alright so I adjusted the screw, and I replaced the belt and it is still acting foolish. The engine does rev when I try and take off, I am beginning to think it is the clutch. What do you guys think? Secondly the numbers that I got of the engine block are
1570MJ *110524039*
When looking to replace the clutch what kind or brand should I get? Where is the best place to order from?
Thanks in Advance again guys!!! Clarence

I bought a power max 150cc scooter about 3 months ago and I have put many miles on it. This past week, when I would try to take off from alight or start from a stop, IT would take a second before it would take off, almost as if the belt was slipping. I am not very mechanically inclined and was wondering if it were the belt or something more serious. Also where do I find the engine code for this moped in the event I want to spice it up later if that is at all possible.
Thanks in Advance!!!
