What is a good performance weight for the Variator weights. I ordered a Variator from Scrapdogg and order 13oz weights. I want top end speed vs. low end.

All I can say is trial and error. What works well for one person, may not work for another.
One thing to consider: get yourself a variety of cheaper weights to work with. Try a few different setups to see what works, then once you figure out the ideal weight, invest in a quality set of that weight.
My 2 cents.

Changing weights shift the power curve 'sweet-spot' up and down the RPMs of the engine. You may see a bit of top end but it won't be much and you will loose it on the bottom...
Actually your stock weights are probably 13gr...you need a range like was mentioned
Might try a mixture of different weights as well...

Josh is right, it's trial and error, what works for one doesn't work for another. I weigh about 185 and I ended up with 13s on my Bashan 150cc. A tach helps, I try to get around 8,200 RPM as the max out. It just seems to run better for me at that RPM and that's about 60 MPH. Rich

I use 15g rollers on my roketa . 13g ran my engine higher rpms and that I didn't like too well. Im more after topend speed like you are . My low speed take off from standstill is a tad slow but I have better hi speed . Also I have an a9 camshaft installed. Still not ruling out a possible rear gear change. will

I just replaced my worn out rollers from 12g to 15g on my GY6 150. I didn't notice much difference in take-off and climb but my midrange and top speed increased. Lower rpm also gave me better fuel economy.
Btw can anyone tell me what's the difference between sliders and rollers?

Yeah a rear gear change may give you better top end, but it varies and depends on what ratio you have stock. Many scooters are running just about maximum ratio stock... others are more conservative. But as they say there is no replacement for displacement...bigger engine... more speed. variant2 sliders are like half steps between weights...they don't have such a dramatic effect...

i forgot what i put in for rollers but i would guess they are 12's. any way the difference in acceleration was dramatic. top speed stayed the same. 2 1/2 yeas ago, 1300miles and still perfect. it out accelerates my 400 cc majesty up to 30 or more. am talking about the 150cc chinese. also have a polini variator in it. 7400 rpms at 60. john

Btw can anyone tell me what's the difference between sliders and rollers? [/b][/quote] Sliders vs. rollers seem to be a personal choice, some guys like sliders but others stick to rollers. Here's a video explaining how sliders are technically faster and wear better but then again these guys are trying to sell them. Rich

Changing the final gears is a waste without more horse power because if you want more top end you need more horse power to do so and if you get the ratio too high the result is bogging down the engine and no hill climbing power. If you want a lot more save your money and buy a bigger scooter. that pretty well sums it up. for a 55mph scooter you want to be able to pass slower traffic and not have to run at wide open throttle. a stock gy6 does not have enough hp to be happy going 55. should they ever produce one with 200cc we will have a nice scooter till the next guy wants to cruise at 70 or 75mph. john
