tvnacman - No i haven't gotten a EFI yet. I am thinking about changing over. If I get one though I would get it from MBE. I am catching the duckens try to get this 30mm carb right and thought the plug and play aspect of fuel injection would make life a little easier for this project and future projects.

With my last build that I rod of 3 hours before blowing it up, I had a A15. It ran very strong until the engine died. This new engine I got from Partsforscooters is supposed to have a nice cam profile but they do not give you the real specs on it. I would love to know if it is bigger than an A12.

Good Idea Alley. What about using a propane torch? Would that work too?

The best tool other than the two specialty tools you have to own to work on a GY6 is a good cordless impact. Sears sells a 19.2 C3 1/2" impact for about $99. I bought one a few omths ago and I have sero regrets. Long battery life and lots of torque.

While tinkering with my variator the other day I noticed that despite how tight I got the variator, the kick start gear would slip out of place and slid back against the variator back plate and push it out. I DID NOT have the gear pressed onto the crank. How do I fix this issue?

Today I went out to work on the scoot and on the first crank it started. But because I am still tweaking the A/F it did not run long. Yesterday my issue was maintaining charge on the batteries while trying to work the kinks out. Today after the first crank the battery was dead, the jump box again was of no help but the voltage on the batteries were good. There is something that is dragging my voltage drops way too low. Let me know what you guys think. s1244.beta.photobucket.com/user/A1WABBIT/media/20130120_130026_zpse13f97ff.mp4.html

I will use my impact on it tomorrow. I tightened it up pretty good by hand. I did notice the kick start gear was loose and came off when I pulled the variator off.

Alright Alley here goes it.
Today I went and double checked spark, and fuel. The spark plug was dry and the fuel was plentiful and after a few tries the beast STARTED!!! It ran for a total of 10 sec., an then quit. Upon restarting the battery and the jump box were spent so i quit. It is a great thing that I did because i looked at the vatiator and saw that it had worded itself loose. Are there two different size belts or is the variator not tight enough?
