The metal used by the Chinese is not as quality as other scooter makers. So like in my situation, the frame slightly bent and to straighten it out, would cause further damage to the scooter. Mine is a MC-13-250 scooter and therefore has a kickstand and a centerstand. So I ride summer, spring, and fall on just the kickstand and place the centerstand back on the scooter, during the winter. Winter winds seem stronger overall, than other winds. Usually by 12 pm daily in the winter, the winds gust at 30 to 60 mph and can knock a scooter over. Need to centerstand to stop it from blowing it over.

Ya, wind is mastered.. Rain causes one to adjust speed, worry about hydroplaning, a down pour is not fun to ride through, ect.. Wind is breezy but not the biggest trucker can blow a scooter over. People might think they are going too, but they can't. I would rather brace myself for wind, as too riding through a down pour..

Now a week ago, my 2000 Sonoma pickup shot craps- blew the engine. It would cost $800 to a $1000 for a rebuilt engine- shipped... Than another $600 to have it slapped in.. Which isn't to bad of a price. We still owe 6 payments of $324.. Well, my sons 2002 Chrysler Convertable shot craps this weekend. It will cost a arm and leg for a rebuilt engine. It is time to have a funeral.. lol We still have my 250 Bali Scooter and it runs great and my wifes Honda Rebel 250.. Still have my other sons car and Bronco to drive. Just got new tires for both of them.. Ready for spring riding and gas is suppose to cost $5 or more this Spring and summer..New tires on the Bronco, the car, my scooter, and my wifes Honda.. Gas Prices

Now I have been watching CNN and they claim gas could hit $5 per gallon by this Spring. Theory for high gas prices... Iran and nuclear activity and the worlds sanctions... The second is some refineries that turn crued into gasoline have closed- so this creates less gas and more drivers on the road means higher demand. Either way, we can afford to gas up in these cheap scooters and keep on going. LOL

I got 5200 on mine. I started to ride my scooter new and the counter broke in the first 7 miles. I road the first year, without getting a new counter. Put approximently 1450 miles on the scooter. Now got 3774 on the new counter + 1450 approximent miles on scooter. It is somewhere are 5200 miles now. But congrats on the 10,000 mile club.. That really is an achievement. Mine has 5200 and 4 years old. I did not ride much due to having foot surgery last Spring and was not able to put weight on it until almost August.

Larry is correct.. It is high for this time of year, but compared to most States, it is decent. But gas prices can expect to rise..

Ya, my wife's birthday is December the 20th.. So she does not get gifts often, because people are buying Christmas gifts. I bought the Honda Rebel for her as a early birthday gift. I will bring her out to Red Lobster too. She knows what you mean, because all her life, it seemed to be a drag to not get presents..

Octane?
by: scooter12 - Dec 31, 2011 20:50:57 GMT -6
Post by scooter12 on Dec 31, 2011 20:50:57 GMT -6
Well, I discovered what was pinging.. My center stand has become bent, thus does not fit right. So anyhow, is was metal again metal: the crankcase and centerstand causes a vibration that I had difficulty locating the noise. Thought is might be pinging due to octane and ethanol. Come to findout, it was due to the centerstand, so I will go back to 89 octane with 10% ethanol.
