cyborg....you are way more hip than I am.....the grand-kids had to enlighten me, when I first ran across the "my bad" phrase. Do they teach our "new language" in school?... Maybe I could take a night class
Glad you're enjoying your Stella

Did you have to rejet or plug hoses? Yes, you will have to re jet....Most suggest a jet in the 110 size for just a breather upgrade, and about 115, if both intake and exhaust are modified....Not written in stone (mine runs excellent with a 115 and stock exhaust)....most of us don't get it right the first time...have to experiment with a few sizes to get it right

What's wrong with the center stand?... Like jct842 said....remove one wheel, then take old tire off, put new tire on wheel, then reinstall on the bike....then repeat above steps with the second wheel.....this isn't that difficult...

It can't be too hard, for I have changed 3 motorcycle, and 1 scooter tire, in the last 12 months..... and I'm a senior citizen. All you need is a couple of tire irons, and a couple of rim protectors are a good idea.

All I will put in my 150cc is 91 oct, non ethanol, and from a dedicated hose..... also every fill gets a few drops of my favorite snake oil....Would probably run just fine on 87....can't find that grade in these parts without ethanol, so I'll stick to the mid grade....Bob

Where is your mixture screw....right side of carb, or left side? I just read an older thread about your strange mixture screw....the posted picture appears to be upside down to me....but anyway, the location of the screw, makes a difference in which way it is turned Read this.......Lots of good stuff in the library section of this site.....all there for the taking scooterdoc.proboards.com/thread/7863/bouncing-rpms-idle

Spark can't be much bigger than the gap...but should be blue.......You haven't forgotten to reattach the engine to frame ground strap have you? Some of us do that after a valve adjustment check. Don't ask me how I know....

seanstr said "So, this is my question? Can a minor exhaust leak that is undetectable with the ear cause bad mileage?" Answer: No If you are only averaging 60 mpg, on many, many consecutive tank fills, and you are sure you are not loosing any to leaks or vandals....then you must be using it. Do you know what your original variator weights were? I'm still confused by your statement about what you have now....13gr...14gr....rollers...sliders Have you checked brake temps after driving scooter...is one dragging a bit...(don't get burned when doing this) Have you done anything to the clutch? Cleaned out the belt dust...checked pads for glazing....maybe it's slipping some Do you have a tach installed?.....It would tell you if the rpm's at your normal cruise speed have increased. Still say pull the spark plug first...if it is covered with cartbon....it's getting too much fuel Read this thread: scooterdoc.proboards.com/thread/10488/long-ngk-c7hsa-last

You didn't say what kind of mileage you used to get. Did it get better mpg before you made mods to the drivetrain?...Mileage is largely determined by driving style. If most of your riding is stop light to stop light, or if you are running mostly highways, and trying to keep up with 55 mph traffic, then maybe you can't expect more than 60 mpg. Have you pulled your spark plug to see if you are running excessively rich? ... Think that's where I'd start...Lots of variables...

I too agree with most of the above tips. The importance of a comprehensive PDI, can not be over emphasized.
Like twowheeler....I use only non ethanol, 91 octane fuel
My engine oil is changed too frequently to reap any benefit a synthetic oil might provide...
Go faster items really not needed...
My tip....use WOT sparingly....a steady diet of 7500 rpm will kill em quick..

Of course, you do realize, that while doing as you described, your engine is still sucking gas through the carb....it's not being burned, just sucked in one valve, compressed, and pushed out the other valve....filling your exhaust system with a combustible mixture.
Not a good thing for many engine components....but ...it is your scooter

I would check them to make sure they are set to spec. It"s been said here before.." ticking valves are happy valves"...Don't go too tight
Totally different engine class...But my R1200C valve clearance spec is .006" intake and .012" exhaust...and it has two, 4 valve heads.....do you think I can hear any ticking from those buggers?

Ok. I looked at the belt. It's frayed in a couple spots. I just took ma quick video as well. The cvt is spinnign the whole time with the engine at idle. Is that proper? It's hard to spin the clutch just with my hand in the proper direction. Is that proper? Thanks. Mike You must know the answer to those questions is NO. Your problem lies under that cover somewhere....variator, clutch, or belt
