With their scooter! ;D I've been reading about motorcycle guys striping the plastics off their bikes. Considering all the maintance that's required with these scooters it would be rather practical.

OK Sooooo I finally got off my built in cushion and took a look at that scooter. I had just gave up on fixing that lousy scooter but then months ago I was passing a scooter shop (non chinese brands) and decided to ask them for help. They suggested I check the carb. The carb.... Hmmm... Didn't think of it cause it's only got 3700K on the clock so what could be wrong in there. Well I took a look at the "how to" video on this site and finally took the darn thing off this weekend. As I'm watching the video and noticing the diaphram on mine is different I see that there is a 1/4 inch slit in it. So I took a piece of rubber glove (about the same thickness) and put a thin spread of rubber gasket maker on and TA-DOW! Put it back on and took a test drive and other than some low speed bogging it was fine. Hopped on the freeway and pegged it at 72 on the speedo. Now how did this happen?? Again only 3700 miles so I don't get it. I still have to figure out some way to get an air intake hose on there cause the one that came with it will not stay what so ever. Also, does anybody know if there's a rebuild kit for the Keihin CVK. I just need the diaphram.

I was fooling around with it and realized the weights would not stay in place. It seems to be working as it should, the belt is going all the way to the top. The noise happened when I shut the engine off and was pushing it a few feet.

OK checked the air intake: Nothing there, fixed the hose connecting to the air box but now the hose won't stay on the carb! Wonderful! Checked the valves: Nothing strange there. Did not pull the clucth yet will do it tomorrow, don't really think that is the problem but we will see. Results of all this??? The Same! I'm about to lose my religion here!!!!! Is it supposed to make a noise when you roll it (engine not running)?

What about 15 or 16 gram sliders? It's already in pieces as you know so I might as well order them. I'm looking for top end not really concerned with the low end that much.

Well I thought I tighten them really good because I didn't want to have to do it again for a while but it was my first time so who knows. I still haven't replaced the rest of the stock vac hoses because I didn't really think they were a serious problem. So I think I'll just redo the valves and everything else this weekend. I work evenings and by the time I get home it's dark and I'm too tired anyway. When I wake up I don't have a lot of time to fool with it but since I won't be riding any time soon might as well take the plastic parts off at least.

Wow! Man this is crazy I'll have a go at it but I definately won't be able to even attempt that till the weekend. In the mean time I'll try and check out the intake side of things.

Here's some video of the variator and clutch in action let me know if it looks right. Took it up to about 7K but it was hard to see and video at the same time. Forgot one

I'm really thinking it something with the engine, it just doesn't feel the way it did. After the valve adjustment it was pretty smooth but after a few days all this started happening. And it happened in stages ya know? First I had to get to about 30 m.p.h before it would accelerate, then 45 m.p.h, then 50! Best way I can describe it is the engine runs but feels weak. I figured I didn't have the carb adjusted right or something. Could it be the intake valve has closed up?
Only other thing I can think of is maybe something did get sucked into the carb because I don't know how long the air hose had been off. I'll shoot a video of the CVT operation tomorrow, didn't have time today and I'm at work now.

Yeah well.... that did not work! It's still doggin it. It just doesn't pull at all. I pulled over and put it up on the center stand and and floored it and it went up to about 7500 rpm's. The variator closed up as it should, the belt went all the way to the top. The clutch opened but I don't think it's opening all the way. It should open up completely and go all the way down to the shaft? I don't know what it's called. So any ideas? Finally got the video working

OK finally got the nut off but not without some incident. Had to go over to a local cycle shop and after a bit of doing it came off. Told the mechanic to just snug it up so I could come home and take it apart, he did and I didn't even make it out of the parking lot! It flew apart as soon as I hit the gas. We pretty much just laughed about it, hey what else can ya do? He suggested I just take it apart there so I did. Looked like one of the rollers had flipped inside but that could have happened when I took it off. Sure enough though it was sloppy with grease. Here's a close up And now all clean! I greased (lightly) the u-sliders and shaft and now I just gotta put it back in and take a test drive. Wish me luck!
