Sorry people I had a REALLY bad week! I was trying to do this without sleeping! LOL Between work and other stuff I had practically no time for this and should have just left it for the weekend but oh well. I'll have another go at is today.
As for the speedo isn't that weird how it seems to change depending on your speed? I'm kinda surprised that no one has come up with a fix for this. Oh well I've been working on a GPS mount for my TomTom, I figure if I get that on I won't even bother looking at the speedo anymore.

Well it looks like I'm done! Went to Home Depot got everything to make the tool. Can't budge it! Lubed it up and whacked it... nothing! Lubed it & whacked it some more.... NOTHING! The socket slipped off and tiny little nut which of course is butter soft is slightly damaged. Socket still goes on but I don't even want to try anymore. At this point if I could afford it I would put the keys in it put the title in the glove box (which is broke too) and hang a "FREE" sign on it. I'm off to work now... where I will hear "Hey where's the moped (they call it that on purpose) hahahahahahaha!" Have a great day people.

So I started whacking the cover... it didn't really budge. I looked all around it and there were no bolts left. Whacked some more until I got a screwdriver in. Pulled & tugged but it didn't budge. After about 15 minutes and some choice expletives I was about ready to give up. Then I looked the case over one more time and wondered... was there something behind this little piece of foam in the center of the case? Tore the foam back and Boing! Another @#$% bolt!!! Took that out and it practically fell off in my hands. Now onto the job... I had some metal strips lying around from another project so I figured they would work. Got it all hooked up and it just bent up as soon as I tried it. I'll be heading to home depot tomorrow (gotta go to work now) any suggestions on the metal to purchase?

OK anybody know how to get the CVT cover off WITHOUT breaking the butter soft metal? Mine is stuck on of course! I'm about to whack it with a rubber mallet (if I can find the darn thing) but I don't know what I will break if I do.

Well after a long slow ride from my moms house (where I left it) I'm finally home. Center stand test performed and she hit 8K easy, I have not been inside the variator yet, I'll do that later on today. It's a good thing that link had pix because I thought the weights were on the other end. LOL ;D Oh yeah I had video of this but my phone won't upload it to Youtube.

If there one thing your right about that is this thing IS heavier than it looks! I almost dropped it numerous times in the past few weeks. LOL Anyway Doc I've got yet another new problem.... Well it must be Friday cause here we go again! After the valve adjust late Sunday things had improved somewhat, on the freeway it was pulling nicely and speed was better. Better for a Chinese scooter anyway, still there were some idle problems and I can't tell if it's lean or rich. I also cannot get the darn spark plug out! I tried the two SP sockets I have and both don't fit, I really don't have time to work on this thing during the week so I'm sure I'm partly to blame but now it's acting up again. Trouble started around Wednesday, I hit the gas and it goes BUT... from 0 to about 25 it just accelerates slowly. At about 30 m.p.h it suddenly takes off and acceleration is normal. Now today I had to get it up to 50 m.p.h before it would accelerate normally. What in the name of all things good is going on now? Oh yeah I thought after the valve adjust the mileage would return to where it was, high 60's to low 70's. Well that didn't happen! I"m only getting about 62 m.p.g's now but when you get it on the freeway it does run quite smooth. Guess that's something.

Temp gauge: Found the wire for it and it was on but loose, tightened it up and well not much of a change. During the day it will move to the just to the normal area and stay there while driving. At night forgettaboutit! Stay on "C" unless I'm standing still. Whatever as long as the fan comes on and it doesn't over heat I'm done fooling with it.
Backfiriring: Still experiencing that occasionally but I'm betting it's because of the darn hose coming from the air box to the carb. It keeps coming loose at the air box! I got mad and jammed a rock in there to keep it in place for now. I will create a permanate fix this weekend.
Brakelight: Haven't gotten to that yet... Don't even know where to start but I'll look at it this weekend.
Speed: It gets to 65 M.P.H most of the time so for now until I pop in some Ninja sliders I'll let it be. Speaking of sliders you use heavier to go faster yes?
And last but not least...
Valve adjustment: With around 2800 on the clock the bugger left me stranded! I was beyond pissed!! I mean I knew it was coming up but I didn't think it would just roll over on me. It started but kept stalling and wouldn't go over 25 M.P.H. The actual procedure wasn't hard at all. The intake was done in minutes but the exhaust took a while due to it's location mostly.

But what about mixing and matching as some have suggested?

It's a Linhai 257cc (insert your favorite clone name here, Tank 250de-08, BMS TBX260, etc....) scooter. OK so got through with the PDI Sunday night and have been riding to work the past two days. A few things stand out... 1. Rear brake switch seems to have developed some sort of short. The brake works but the light flickers. 2. Coolant gauge still isn't acting right. It moves about a 1/4 inch into the "normal" range when idling, but take off and it stays on "C" 3. Seems to hit the wall at 65 m.p.h or 69 m.p.h, I don't really know because so far my TomTom test has been inconclusive. One reading it was a 3 m.p.h difference then another had it at 5 m.p.h and another had it at 10 m.p.h! I haven't mounted TomTom yet just been holding it in my hand and taking a quick peek. The roadside radar showed a 5 m.p.h difference so I dunno!! Still I've seen several video's on YouTube of these bike at least getting the needle on 80 m.p.h but mine stops at about 72 m.p.h. I never expected to set any speed records but I'd like to at least be able to cruise @ 65 m.p.h with the option of a little more in reserve. I know the wind has a little to do with it and I've been driving though some crazy wind here but come on it should go faster than that right? 4. Early milage seems to be 68 mpg but it's still too early. Went out to play with it here at work, started it up and rode around the parking lot and got some backfiring. Someone please tell me it's because it's low on gas!
