Made up my mind where to mount the battery box. First I had to make a couple of mounts to attach the box to. BTW. I apologize for only one picture per post. I'm doing all this from my Blackberry as the home computer is on the fritz. I tried the photobucket thing but for some reason it won't work on this stupid phone. Attachments:

I'm planning on doing both. The engine has a 4 speed trans. I plan on running a chain from the engine to a jackshaft then from the other end of the jackshaft anouther chain will be attached to the CVT using a sprocket welded to the hub of the original flywheel. I just ground off the rivets and am only using the small center hub so the cover will still fit. I also removed the stator and pickup as I will use the charging system built into the new motor. I'm going to have to split the case on the GY6 inorder to remove the connecting rod. Then I'll make a cover for where the cylinder used to be.

Quick update. If you look at the picture you was see that there is no place to mount a decent fan. I don't want to run without one as we do a lot of stop and go riding in town. So this is going to be a 2 radiator set up. I found anouther radiator with a fan that I'm going to mount behind the fuel tank. Its basically only going to be there for the fan and to increase the fluid capacity of the cooling system. I'm hoping to mount it flat against the belly pan and pull air through it. It fits in there but I won't know for shure until I get the motor mount bracket and get the 250 in there and see what kind of clearance I have.

Update. You ever wonder why the 50cc scoots have the battery in the floorboard? Cause that's the only place it really fits! Unfortunately, the friend I'm building this for dosnt want any plastic so no floorboard. I think I figured out a solution but its going to take me a couple of days to mock up. Will post new picks ASAP. On the upside the mettle fenders are going to look very nice. Thank you BMI.

Its worth a try! Bought all you can do is do a mock up and see how you like it. Dosnt matter what others think. If you think its cool...it is!

This is my favorite setup. 52mm (88)cc big bore kit, 2 number sizes bigger drill bit to drill out the main jet, K & N style filter, 1500rpm torque spring, and 9.5 gram Dr Pulley sliders. Then watch your spark plug for fine tuning.

Got a box of parts today. Battery box, taillight, foot pegs, and fenders. Unfortunately I have to get ready for my sons Cub Scouts Blue and Gold Banquet so can't get anything done today. Hopefully will make some progress tomorrow and can post pictures. Attachments:

This is how the back signal light are going to work. Only thing left to do is sand the trim ring down to tube size. Attachments:

Progress report. Still waiting on parts. The battery box is the critical one. Once I decide where to mount it that will help determine where I put the shock mount, wiring (will be inside frame tubes), and seat. I'm working on the rear signal light today. Hopefully I can post pictures latter. This is a little hint of the plan for the next naked scooter. Think 4 speed automatic using the original CVT, 125cc air cooled engine, and a jackshaft. I'm thinking the JB weld is going to work good for you but just for your info there is a very good tutorial on plastin welding in the technical section. I have tried it myself and it works very well.

You gotta give him a brake. He has a very nice scoot that he is proud of! Not to mention the fact that is probably WAY more dependable then the chinese ride most of us have. I kind of like the style. For some reason it reminds me of 50's Cadillacs. Low and long.
