I am starting my engine swap project and I know that I'm going to need a different back rim as the splines are much bigger on the 250. I'm wondering what the correct size rim is on a CFMOTO style 250cc. Any help in locating one would also be very appreciated.

since most chinese 150 scoots are air cooled, how can you put a 250 cc on one. Will you have to add a radiator and a whole bunch of other stuff?

Yep. Got a radiator and fan for 45. 00. I am going to use hard copper and short pieces of hose to hook it up. Will post picks as parts come in. I also had to order a new rear wheel and swing arm..

new wheel came today. Did a test fit and no luck. Turns out the engine I have was not for a scooter. The drive shaft is only has the splines doing down about 2". Must have ben for a ATV or something like that. Found the correct one. Hopefully will be hear in a few days.
Next problem. I'm going to need a top quality tire. The back rim is only 10" so I don't want to cut any corners. Suggestions on bran and size would be appreciated.

Its to bad those ebay tires won't fit. With 2 red tires on a red scoot I would have ben so fast I wouldn't have even needed to upgrade to a 250!

I really thought about doing this, since my scooter is a touring scooter and thought about one day upgrading it.. but then I figured with all that work I might as well just sell my scooter and buy a 250cc..

It would sure have ben easier! There are several reasons I chose to do it this way.
1) My tank is in beautiful shape. Just got it last summer.
2) I have already done many upgrades including a very nice stereo.
3) if I bought a 250cc with a CN style motor I would still have to rebuild the cooling system anyway.
4) I'm going to keep the 150cc markings on it just to mess with people.
5) Just for the heck of it! I enjoy having a good project for the winter.

Sorry I have not yet posted pictures. At this point I'm still collecting parts for the swap. Most of my shop time has ben spent working on the 50cc custom I'm building for a friend will be putting up more picks as I get into the actual swap. This is the actual engine. Its a brand new CFMOTO I bought off Ebay for $420 delivered. Attachments:

The new drive axle came in the mail today. The correct one is on the right. You can see the problem. If I was sharper on these 250s I would have known as soon as I got the motor that I had a problem. RapidJim, Yea, I wish I could use a bigger rim. To me that's the biggest down side of the Honda style motor. I took a look at the carb. Not sure I want a manual choke on this bike. Weather permitting this is my daily transport so I like the ease of an auto choke. Attachments:

I know what you mean. Some folks like an auto, some like a manual choke. Sorry but the auto choke style is out of stock. Very fast moving item.

Still waiting for parts but I started building the cooling system. The stock setup with one little radiator behind the gas tank sucks so I'm using a Helix radiator mounted in the front. First problem.. This brace is in the way. Its gotta go. I plan on making the radiator mounts heavy enouf to take its place. Attachments:
