Got the mounts made. The big holes are just there to minimize air restriction from the brackets. Next step is to get the radiator mounts welded into the scoot. Hope to get that done today. Attachments:

Still waiting for parts but I started building the cooling system. The stock setup with one little radiator behind the gas tank sucks so I'm using a Helix radiator mounted in the front. First problem.. This brace is in the way. Its gotta go. I plan on making the radiator mounts heavy enouf to take its place. Attachments:

I have to say that I ordered a wheel recently and got a call from them just to make sure if I needed one for disk or drum brakes. I had the wheel just a few days latter. Very Happy.

I have seen some nice 250cc bikes on ebay for as little as $1800.00. There are also some nice used Berbmans out there.

They are the brackets that the motor mount was attached to. I figure that they were the only thing holding the motor mount and engine before so they should be able to hold just the engine. I used the original bolt but had to make new spacers. You don't want any side load on the engine mounting tabs. I cut steel tubing to the approximate length I needed and then ground the ends down a little at a time till I had a snug fit. As far as welders go..I was told that if I was going to teach myself to start with a stick welder. If you can take a welding class then a MIG is nice. The best is a TIG welder. A good stick welder can be updated to a TID welder with the addition of an ark stabilizer, TIG torch, and shielding gas regulator.

The new drive axle came in the mail today. The correct one is on the right. You can see the problem. If I was sharper on these 250s I would have known as soon as I got the motor that I had a problem. RapidJim, Yea, I wish I could use a bigger rim. To me that's the biggest down side of the Honda style motor. I took a look at the carb. Not sure I want a manual choke on this bike. Weather permitting this is my daily transport so I like the ease of an auto choke. Attachments:
