I just got everything back together and started it up. I'm waiting for it to get hot to see if the fan comes on when it gets hot. Now that I have listened a little closer, I can hear something but it does not sound like it is coming from the engine itself. It sounds like a bearing in the rear wheel or near the belt section on the bike. Is there a bearing in the rear wheel perhaps that is known to go bad? When I accelerate it sounds like a rattle and then it's gone. The faster I go it goes away.

Thanks a lot for your input. I changed that switch and the other one in the bottom of the radiator. Gonna try it out tomorrow and see if it works properly. thanks again!

Hello, I have dang near rebuilt the whole scoot! I have finally got this thing running correct! The rectifier, diode replaced and stator replaced. I've got a brand new 7"cooling fan from silicon intakes which by the way turns on when it's supposed to and not on all the time! Now I just have the comment that someone made about the Crankshaft bearing knock. How does one know what that sounds like? Any suggestions?

The other day I posted a video with some upgrades that I had put on my scoot. I had it running in the video with the LEDs that I had installed. I received a comment stating that I should rebuild my engine because it sounds like I have a "CRANKSHAFT BEARING KNOCK" due to improper break-in. Is this possible? I don't know if I can upload an audio file but, I will try.

I hope I'm doing this right. I have the same overheating issues. I bought a new fan and radiator temp switch. I did not r/r the thermostat yet. I don't get any power to my fan even when I jump the wires from the radiator water temp switch. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hello everyone. Is there anyone out there that is having/had this problem before? I believe that this all started after I R/R my stator last month. I would be riding and when stopped for a light, I would smell fresh new gasoline. I kind of ignored it the first time. Then it happened again so, I checked it out. I put the bike on the lift and discovered that there was gasoline leaking from the spot that is illustrated in the photo. I do not know why or how but does anyone have any solutions to my problem? Thanks in advance. Attachments:

I replaced the stator, R/R, and the diode. I also changed the gear oil with "Lucas 90wht" and just to keep everything on the light side, I disconnected the right headlight. I usually don't ride at night so it does not interfere. You know how it sounds when everything is working together and in tune with each other? Well that's what I have right now and it sounds and feel marvelous!
Thanks again Alleyoop and others!

Thank you for answering that for me Alleyoop I f I may ,I just have one more question for you. When you R&R the stator, is it common practice to R&R the pickup sensor that is in the same area as the stator? Reason I'm asking is one day the oil hose that leads to the stator compartment had come off and my bike was overheating. Not only due to this but the fan was not working either. I immediately pulled over to find it that way. Lost approx. 50-60% of my oil. Stopped at a gas station and bought some oil and filled it back up after putting it back on with the PROPER clamp but, I'm guessing the damage was done already. Got home and fixed the fan by bypassing the radiator sensor switch. (As per the dealer I purchased it from. Says I don't really need it. So the fan operates as soon as the engine starts and stops when I turn the engine off. Sort of like a car. He says its better and will not kill my batt. as long as the charging sys. is working.) do you have any input on this?

Hello! I hope I'm putting this in the proper place. I looked all over this site to find someone with a bike that looks like mine, well here goes. I have the same engine as in the photo here. (2012 Jonway YY250T 244cc) I was having dead batt issues since I bought the bike (brand new) a little over a year ago. So I bought a new batt. and still the same issue. So I checked the output of my charging sys. and discovered that it was not charging AT ALL. I purchased a brand new stator for $90.00 which I found cheaper after the fact on another site. (49.00) My problem is WHERE IS THE STATOR LOCATED? The place I bought the bike from stated that all I had to remove was the muffler and BAM there it is. NOT TRUE. Can someone please help me locate the stator so I can R&R it so I can get back on the road again. (It's been a month of not riding.) Arrrgh

Thx for your prompt response. I isolated the problem to the stator. I have 23-24volts on two of the yellow wires. The third has 0. If I may ask, how/what causes the stator to go bad. My reason for asking is I just bought this bike a little over a year ago. It was towards the end of the summer meaning I did not ride it that much. Didn't ride it at all during the winter. Here it is spring and I am buying a new stator. Is this going to be a regular thing with this bike?

Hello. I'm pretty new to this chat stuff so I hope you will bear with me. I have a 2012 yy250T and I am always needing a boost to get it started again after riding an hour or so. I bought a new battery and still the same thing. I tried looking in the forums on how to specifically check to see if the stator is bad but I am not sure on how to perform the steps. (I don't want to short anything else out) I used a multimeter to check the battery and it read 12.4 at idle. when revved to 3000-4000 rpms it read 12.5. AT 4000-6000, it read the same 12.5. Can someone help me out?
