Yes both sides normally every one puts the rtv on the metal surface of each side then put the gasket on but you can do it either way.

It is not the MAIN JET it is the PILOT JET, 4 turns out means the Pilot jet is one size to small is all, but if it runs good and smooth no need to tear the carb out and see what size pilot jet is in there just to get one 1 size bigger. So your good performance will not get any better or worse. Alleyoop

HAHAHAHA, welcome to the club of CHEAP arse TIRES they put on. If a tire takes more than 3 oz's of weights to balance they are garbage, 3 and under is the rule they use.
Also you will be hard pressed to find 14 inch tires that 270 size. Everyone has a heck of a time finding tires that size and buy good tires with a little less width. I guess they use that size so you order from CHINA(HAHA).
You can find good tires sizes 205 ,225, 235s etc.. anything bigger and they do not come in 14 inch.

Yes it is possible especially if the R/R was fried because that is fed from the stator. I just want to be sure it is a NO SPARK PROBLEM if no spark then order the parts. When and if you take the FLYWHEEL off watch out for the WOODRUFF KEY that is what holds the FLYWHEEL in position. Alleyoop

If in the cap then it came from the OIL PUMP SIDE not the crankcase side. The oil flow from the side up through the opening of the mesh filter so any metal pieces would be INSIDE the mesh filter so NOT FROM THE CRANKCASE.

Well you are correct in that the only things left for spark is the stator and pickup coil. All the other components for spark have been replaced, which would be the normal parts to replace since they are easy to replace and not expensive for a weak and or no spark, the last thing you would hit is the stator and pick up coil which require lots more work.
I would do one more test before you go and invest on a stator and pick up coil. Get a spare spark plug and as SOON as it dies take the boot cap off the plug and stick the spare in and see if it sparks, but do it right away. Do it this way do not want you to get burned the stuff will be HOT. Alleyoop
