Look in the general zone (no scooter zone) and you will find instructions on how to upload pics.

My question - Luke, how do you call a Morpheus a scooter - it Maryland it would be classified as a Motorcycle -
"Motor Scooter" means a non-pedal vehicle that: 1.Has a seat for the operator. 2.Has 2 wheels, of which one is 10 inches or more in diameter; 3.Has a step through chassis; 4.Has a motor, (i) With a rating of 2.7 brake horsepower or less; or (ii) If the motor is an internal combustion engine, with a capacity of 50 cubic centimeters piston displacement or less; and 5.Is equipped with an automatic transmission. "Motor Scooter" does not include a vehicle that has been manufactured for off road use, including a motorcycle and all terrain vehicles.
Note: For special or unusual circumstances, the work can be processed at any full service MVA office.
Motor scooters that are built for road use and have greater horsepower and cc's may be titled and registered as a motorcycle. Note: A person may not operate a motorcycle that has a rating of 1.5 brake horsepower or less or a capacity of less than 70 cubic centimeters piston displacement, on a roadway where the posted maximum speed is more than 50 miles per hour, or on an expressway or other controlled access highway.

I am riding a 4 stroke 49cc 139qmb with 6000 miles on it and it still runs great, do your scheduled maintenance on it and take care of it and it will last a long time. I sold one 4 years ago with over 10,000 miles on it and it was still running strong.

I am another lone rider here in western Maryland. I enjoy it as I can ride as slow as I want on the country roads, around the lake and take in my other fun past time of taking pics of trains. Stop and eat\drink when and where I want. Not many people around here ride small scooters and the ones that do don't like riding in the country.

I too enjoy riding the mountains on a 50cc, nice way to enjoy all the sites. 5600 miles on this one and still climbs 2% grades at 25 and steeper ones at 10-15 mph. Love the Mountains of Western Maryland. Attachments:

whats wrong with the cheap scooters? I have a little Sunny 139qmb 50 cc scooter that I ride daily and am not afraid to ride 100 miles on it daily. I take care of it and do regular maintenance on it. It now has 5500 miles on it and runs just as good as it did when I bought it. I am 60 years old, and I use it for every little thing that I need to do around town or just to get on and ride and pass time since I am retired. I do not understand why everyone is so concerned about speed. 35 mph is great for me as I get to see things I don't normally see at 55+. I am retired and cannot afford the 2000+ for the scooters you all talk about and I am really happy with my little 800 scooter. (( Yes it is a scooter according to Maryland, anything bigger is classified as a motor cycle here )). I get 100 mpg and its a blast on the bike trails where I can ride in comfort and without fear of the idiots driving cars.

I understand that with electronics most of the time it either works or it don't. But the cdi i had worked fine at idle, but not when increasing revs. I tried it 3 times with same results. Prior to this problem, scooter ran great with no troubles and no I had not touched anything or changed anything and have not ridden threw water or rough roads. All I know is for sure, after changing the cdi everything is back to normal and running fine once more.

was out riding scoot, 50cc 139qmb, having a great day, then it dies.
pulled to side of road, scoot fired right up idle great, gave it some gas and it died again.
hit starter and fires right up again, good idle
give it gas and it dies again
call home and get wife to bring truck to get me home.
at home, i check for gas, full tank replaced fuel filter start scooter and fires right up and idle great give it gas and it dies.....
replaced spark plug, same prob replaced carb with new one, same prob checked valves, .003 on both, all good, same prob
scratch my head and go get coffee....
decide to check electrical ....
replaced cdi, bike fires up and runs great, take for ride no problems
put old cdi back on, fires up and give it gas and it dies
threw old cdi away and put on new one and all is Good
anyone else ever have a cdi act like this?
I was sure it was a fuel problem.

Millsc - let me know please how that kit worked out for you, the price looks great for under 60.
Now to work on my list -
Find warm place to work on scooter - I am in Maryland Mountains Get my tools in line - Tear down motor - Figure out all the things I need and want. ((tell the wife I need more parts)) order parts get parts and scratch my head and ask myself - am i nuts ((answer wife, yes i needed that)) start assembly with a worried look ((answer wife yes I can do this))
OK guys, for now I just gonna sit back and read up on all the other posts on how to do things, but i know me and when I get started I know I will have a ton of questions and problems.
((wife says I cant make the bed right, how am I gonna rebuild a motor))
Until then, enjoy the peace and quiet.

Millsc, thank you for the links, those prices are within my budget so that looks good.
Can I still use the stock carb, even with the new jets? or should I go ahead and go to a performance carb and air filter?
Ally, I pulled the head off and their was a big hole in the piston, but I did find my straw, lol.

Thanks Ally, will await response.
JCT, already checked valves on this, they adjusted to .04 / .04 I inserted a small straw into the spark plug hole and think the piston is shot on this thing as I lost the straw into the chamber. lol
this is a free bee scooter, I already have another one that I ride, and with nothing better to do, thought it would be fun to tear this one down and modify it. Retired here and will give me something to do over the summer lol.
